So things are really bad at SU

Your heart has to go out to the students who are living their dream of being in the band. Did you all pay attention to what that young man said. He said, (with a smile). I didn't think I could be part of something so great and as a mentor myself, I hope and pray that SU's band survive these cuts because if not it will effect our college students who are trying to make their dreams come true. GOOD LUCK, SU and you best believe I'm giving $50.00 to Dr. Jackson.

Even tho I dislike SU when facing JSU I cant stand to see this happen to a fellow HBCU Band I hope you guys pull through this....it wont be fun running the SWAC without running thru SU first.... u guys will make it thru...

Can you guys pick up some sponsors for the band? What about Johnny Lane? Couldn't he talk to Remo and get some sponsorships from the Dline?

this kind of stuff is sad, I hate seeing our young people at any school have to endure shortcomings due to no fault of their own :smh:

like I said before on another thread...this is an attack...and it is the Jindal politics...making cuts to higher ed that are not exactly necessary just to play the political game against the President...hell they don't give a sh!t about who it effects, just as long as they make it look like it is the President's fault. All this mess has a trickle down effect and we are feeling it, especially since we are his main target.....But I'm gonna do my part to help...Love that Jukebox!

I blame Mr. Jackson. Why increase the size of the band in tough economic times by 100 members? What happened to the phrase "quality over quantity"?

Dr. Greggs had the most efficient marching band there was, there was no pork in a Dr. Greggs band.

Are you serious?

The video is blocked for me while at work. But whatever is going on, I hate it for SU (and any of OUR HBCUs) and certainly don't wanna see our kids have to suffer due to cutbacks. :smh: I hope SU still comes out on top.

If I had the capabilities to ban you from this board, I would do it quicker than you can walk five feet in women's heels. You repeatedly spew some of the stupidest, hateful stuff on this board.

Lets be real.... we all know those instruments on this video are NOT SU gameday instruments lol....they may be some practice instruments... but SU aint struggling in the instrument dept.

yea we know that they showed the practice instruments and all, but believe me DaHill, our budget is most certainly under attack....and we are having to fight for everything these days!

Mr Jackson has had the band at that size since he took over in 06. The budget cuts took effect last year. He didn't have to deal with this his first 4 seasons(06-09). You speak as if the band's numbers just increased when these budget cuts came about.

Also, speak only on things you know. There were times in the past(mainly the 80's) where Dr Greggs marched more than the "conventional" 128 on the field. His band, on more than 1 occasion, marched well over 200+ members.

Bottom line is this, with the travel budget being cut, it doesn't matter what size the band is(96, 128, 256, etc.). There is NO MONEY for ANYONE to travel unless they raise it by other means.

As for the instruments, those showed in the video are actual instruments. Especially that baritone because I have seen them personally being played on. We don't have "Gameday" instruments. I think the drum section MAY have practice drums, but as far as brass and woodwinds...NAW.

I hope everything with SU works itself out. As Dahill and everyone in the SWAC knows we JUST got new horns last year and the horns we had were taped, I said TAPED, together before games. Our people strive in moments of adversity...

wow, thats sad. (i could have done without seeing that taped up horn though)
I/m sure the jukebox alumns will step up and correct this issue

I hope you also giving $50 to the BOOM.

Pull up 2010-2011 and you will see it. 2011 hasn't ended yet. This is a new list as of October 1st the new fiscal year.
There are a large number of donors who aren't on that list 2011-2012 donations started October 1 of this month. This list changes monthly.

QUOTE=Tiger G;1939691]Tim, your name is not on the list of Donors to JSU's development: http://www.jsums.edu/oia/honorrollofdonors.html[/QUOTE]

That is a wonderful attitude!:swink:

I enjoy hearing the Human Jukebox and watching them perform. I can't recall a bad show they've ever put on. I know things will turn around for the Jukebox.....too many Southern alum, fans, & supporters love that band & won't allow it to go through this.

It is projected that by the year 2012-13, a large number of colleges and universities will be suffering or operating in the red. Dr. Mason warned us of all these budget cuts and they will effect not only SU but every school in the swac. I hope we all survive.
