Signing Day Misses - Are HBCUs Hurting Ourselves

Stop living in the past, acting like OUR grass is greener than MR. YT, and realize we got to change the way this conference do business to get back into these livingrooms.

Agreed.

I just had a very intense conversation with some people about this very issue concerning a business matter. They had been doing things a certain way for a long time and were upset that customers now wanted something different. The new service/product the customers wanted was due to technological changes in the industry. I couldn't believe how hard I had to fight to get people to realize that we have to change with the market or get left behind. All organizations must do that. Adapt or die. It's really that simple.

The truth is, the SWAC has screwed itself up so bad, we can't even get into the living rooms of kids that are down to their last D1 hopes. They would rather play for a JUCO for the next 2 years before they even put us on the visit list.

The question should be, WHAT DO THE SWAC DO IN 2012 TO MAKE ITSELF MORE ATTRACTIVE TO RECRUITS.

Tis true. Blinn JC here in Texas should be playing a legit D-I BCS type schedule w/ the talent they rake in yearly.

How does the SWAC make itself attractive again? Start pink-slipping folx @ the top and their subordinates who have and maintain the stale ideology of segregation. The sooner folk realize that kids of color and non-color have numerous choices and position themselves in a stance to win them over, the better off this conference could be.

We making excuses even though we have backed up everything we said with facts. This is why we so far behind in sports as HBCUS. People don't want to hear the truth. The truth is these kids don't even want to look our way anymore.

I think its safe to say that after the last 20 years of burying our head in the sand, and talking about how other FCS conferences WISH they was us because of attendance,, nobody actually believe we can live on past glory anymore. That shat played out for the SWAC when McNair left Alcorn in 1995.

 I still remember that long playoff discussion with Bluedog and others about the playoffs and they was talking about how we should be glad we arent in the Playoffs and screaming this attendance mess:crazy:? After that I just gave up on talking to some of these clowns because its obvious they are azz backwards and they are the majority in this conference! :smh:
