S.U. has a nice dose of regional and national blend. It is good to see the rest of the conference get more air time.

IMHO.............Grambling got a bad deal this season in terms of TV. What is a travesty is that they will be one of the top 3 teams and one that would be appealing to the masses. Maybe a major network will pick up their game against Washington State.......I hope so.

The 11-game schedule includes five home games to be played in AW Mumford Stadium on the SU campus, and also features five road games, and one away game in New Orleans. All five home games will be broadcast locally by Cox Sports TV, and will be picked up nationally by CSTV, giving SU SIX nationally televised games.

Total coverage is as follows (the order is deliberate based on # of games first, then SWAC/ESPNU repect factor, as I'd like to call it):
Southern 8 (2 without SU package and Bayou Classic... 1 on SWAC/ESPNU. Somebody deserves a raise at Southern.)
Ala. St. 6 (SWAC/ESPNU package accounts for 4. Large count normally reserved for GSU, but the Hornets are the SWAC champs.)
AAMU 4 (SWAC/ESPNU package accounts for 3. East contender.)
TSU 2 (2 Home games on the SWAC/ESPNU package for winless team? Come on!!!)
GSU 2 (Very unusual and unfortunate. If Bruce is on his game, he should get more air time.)

1. Would someone ... anyone.... please tell me how much cash ESPNU (the worldwide leader in sports) is paying the conferences to switch dates and play on Thursday nights?

2. How many advertising minutes is ESPNU allowing the conferences to sell and earn much deserved revenue from?

3. What is the average payout for Saturday 1AA football on ESPN ?

I'm assuming JSU/GSU/Alcorn/Bamas (maybe) will get more air time. BET is still showing games, right? You still have the Southern Heritage Classic, CCC, State Fair (maybe with FSN again), etc. With the subtraction of the MCC from BET, perhaps they can pick up the John Merritt Classic. There are still a lot of attractive games not spoken for in the SWAC. Then again ESPN did make deals with other conferences as well.

Is BET still showing games? If they are, they are really quiet about it.
 
Other than the Classics, most of those games won't draw 10k on a good saturday night. I see why they might have been picked for the tv package.
 



I think that the Bethune-Cookman/UAPB matchup might be rather intrguing. As a UAPB graduate, I'd like to see how Coach Forte got it done last season (almost, anyway).

SSSSSH. I hope no one is listening. I wonder also. I think it is tht Mo is just an excellent coach. You know he had left overs from whats his name and made a winner. I think he will do wonders with his own scheme and players. But between you and me, it is so hard to get information about PB.
 
Forte did it last year after kicking more than a handful of the previous years' starters off the team. He did it with young players (other than the 2 running backs, who were seniors I believe) and a suspect QB. I think he may make it REALLY happen this season. The Bethune-Cookman game will be a real good barometer (but we can't overlook Valley, though)....
 
Will the Southern University Cox/CSTV agreement carry over into the Basketball season? I know the games were carried by Cox, were they live or delayed? I saw a couple of games, but didn't know if it was a replay or a delay of the broadcast.
