SIAC/ESPNU Deal - Turkey Day Classic to be Televised

ESPNU grabs SIAC: ESPN's 24-hour college sports network, has reached a five-year agreement (through 2010) with the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) for coverage of football and men's and women's basketball.

Specifically, ESPNU will televise at least three SIAC football games annually. In 2005, matchups will include Benedict vs. Morehouse on Thursday, Aug. 25; the Turkey Day Classic featuring Tuskegee vs. Alabama State on Thursday, Nov. 24; and the Pioneer Bowl pitting the SIAC and CIAA champions on Saturday, Dec. 3.

Of course, unless something happens between now and football season, we won't be getting the Turkey Day Classic here and neither local cable provider carries ESPNU. But perhaps that will change. ESPNU has secured distribution agreements with DIRECTV, Adelphia, Mediacom, several smaller affiliates and is close to distribution agreements with others, according to ESPN.
 
Rumor has it that the Swac office has been pimped by the Bama schools and they have the bulk of all the Swac games that will be televised.

I don't know about being pimped, but there will be a but load of Bama (school) games on ESPNU this year. And there are some SWAC school that are not very happy about the arrangement either.

The question may be is ESPNU choosing the games that they would like to televise? If so it would stand to reason that they may tilt toward the recent upper tier of the conference and classics. Does anyone has a copy of the T.V. schedule and if so will you post it? Thanks
 
Since we know 2 games that will be televised by ESPNU, does anybody know the other 5?

With all of the commotion that was stirred by 'Skeegee last year in regards to payout from ASU, I wonder how generous they will be with splitting the television pot from the TDC with ASU, since this game will be televised on The SIAC's dime?

Also, with SU having 6 games being televised by CSTV, I'm sure GSU has some other television interests outside of the ESPNU deal as well. Even with the funk JSU is in, they may have some other deals as well. Does anybody know if the JSU game with TSU will still be carried by BET?

I was going to say that since we have a CSTV/Cox deal outside of the SWAC-ESPNU deal then I am sure SU can't be one of the schools mad. All the home games and the SU vs TxSU game on ESPN U will be televised not to mention the Bayou Classic on NBC. Heck I wonder will the Mc Neese / SU game have any kind of coverage. I guess it wouldn't be national but maybe local/regional?

This has nothing to do with that......

At this time the Bama's are scheduled to be on 77% of of the 9 games that are scheduled. All of the Swac schools are on at least once except one of the schools from Ms. I don't think this is going to go well with most of the schools but no one is going to challange the commish about it.

Duhhhhh, I believe we are talking FOOTBALL and not baseball. No where in any of my post do you see any reference to the baseball championship. It's all about the teams that are scheduled for football and PV does have 1 game against the Bamas on TV.

Enlighten me on how foolish it is...

It involves me because I am a fan of the SWAC and if it is a CONFERENCE package I think it should show all the conference teams.
