Should We Drop the "African-"?

,,, yeah but dude,, we adopted negro and we changed to colored. We chose colored and we changed to black. we chose black and changed to African-American. why are we the only ones changing all the time?

(and what about native Africans allegedly saying "who are the blacks in America to call themselves "African" when most of them have never lived here and are not directly from here and have no clue about Africa??"), WHAT THE HE11 WE GONNA CHANGE TO NEXT?!! Next some black group will say "American" represents the imperialist, racist, European conquering of the globe,, it is dispicable to have that as part of our name,, we are "African descendents" (or whatever some interest group will come up with next)
 
It does not matter, however we should all get together and stick with just one word. I saw an application that had explained what the term African American means. How will people explain to their children what race they are if we are using two words for it? Colored was not a bad term because we are people of color.
 
I like African-American but prefer Black-American because that addresses the issue of a white south African becoming an American citizen and then calling themselves an African-American.

In teresting point. I do not think it is a big concern but I like your idea.
How about:
1. Slave decendents (does not indicate complextion or nation)
2. American slave decendents (simply too long)
3. freed slaves (vague?)
4. Negroid (that is the scientific designation. Just 3 negroid, caucasoid, mongoloid)
5. American negroid (that sounds like what the government might like)
6. black
7. Afro-American
