Shaka Smart to Texas?

Yeah Austin is totally different from the rest of Texas. I remember when Rick Perry was talking all of that seceding from the Union mess and Austin started a petition to secede from Texas lol

Yep. Austin is liberal. Not saying the UT alums around the state are not full of rednecks. They don't like what Austin has become. The student body is also changing. You can see its becoming more Cali ish.

But back to Shaka Smart. Eventually he needs to leave VCU. They said Texas was one of about 10 jobs he would leave VCU if open. I would assume the rest of the jobs were at dominant programs with coaches who are not going anywhere soon or already have replacements in mind or on their staffs to take over for their legendare coaches.

Smart would do well at Texas. They can get talent. Just under achieved under Barnes.

Most think that texas is a football state and it's true but they forget that this place also has a LOT of basketball talent. Cannote hate on the fact that ut-austin will itself reel in high-level talent from nationwide, as well as the statewide talented prepsters. W/ Mr Smart @ the helm, the program cannot help but show an increase in competitivity.

same thing they said about Grant at Bama.... he got the talent to Bama.... they just transferred because they were underutilized. One of the players was a Mr. Basketball in Alabama... he left and went to NC State where he was All SEC and led NC State to the Sweet 16.

So the ATL is redneck? DC? San Antonio?
San Francisco? We not talking the burbs or entire state. Austin is liberal than a mofo. So damn liberal that You have to bring your own bag to the grocery stores because they have no plastic bags to protect the environment.
Yeah there are redneck UT alums. But the majority of them don't live in Austin.
Parts of ATL is. I can take you to Highlands area or Sandy Springs and those uppity necks will show you who they think you are.

Just think... the Harrison Twins, Joe Young (PAC-12 MVP), Kelly Oubre (Kansas), Julius Randle, Matt Jones (Duke), Jordan Mickey (LSU), Justin Jackson (UNC), Justice Winslow...

Wasn't he up for another big time JOB and he declined,, also BAMA offered Wichita state coach alot of money,, he turned it down

UCLA offered him the job two years ago for the position they had open. He turned it down before they hired Steve Alford.

Alabama offered Marshall 4.2-4.7 million a year.... that would have put him as the highest paid coach in the nation. Calliperi currently makes 3.8 million a year and thats including tv and radio show apperences. Marshall declined and got a rais to 3.3 from Witchita... his family didnt want to leave Wichita.

Calipari made $6.5M this season, Pitino made 5.8 and Coach K made almost $10M.

are you going on salary or total after incentives? Im speaking strictly off of salary. ... Nevermind I see it now.. I wa rewading a 2013 article.

Oubre and the Harrison twins moved to Texas as Oubre will claim New Orleans and the twins are from the East Coast somewhere......these kids are cut from a different cloth and rather leave the state and play for basketball first schools.....

Winslow was a private school kid along with Jackson, Randle and Mickey so they grew up in schools where football was nothing but an afterthought as they were spoon fed to play basketball and chose schools that emphasized it

Also, UT has not proven to "pay" for those type as of now

As long as Shaka Smart holds out on a decision, rumors about Billy Donovan leaving for the NBA will increase. Many think Smart is waiting to see if the Florida job opens up.

That's not Ricky's son is it? Hmmmm.... When I saw his name and where he was from, it threw a red flag.

they may have been born there but there are deep Maryland ties...

it's Winslows's son and UH was never an option....

Dannnnnnnnnnng.... none of the slamma jamma kids' thought of uofh - except for one of them, if I recall correctly. And he actually txferred didn't he? lol Po' uofh.

He wanted the Texas job according to the talking heads. But they didn't want him. He just didn't want to go to Bama. I guess he figure he can win just a much at Wichita State. I think he really wants to coach in the Big 12 to go head to head with Bill Self and Kansas. He too quirky to go the deep South like Bama. Better he stay where he is.

U of H hiring practices suck. They want to be big time. But hire scrubs. Kevin Sampson is there now. But he is garbage. They would be better off trying to steal Mike Davis from TxSu.

Wonder if they will go after Louisiana Tech's coach now?

Those area ain't neck. Yuppies yeah. But not chew tobacco necks. Alot of them folks are not even from GA. They kind of eclectic in that area. Me and Frat done hung out that area with his Law School buds. Shole ain't Cobb county type neck. Lol.

Smart coaches better than what Grant did. Both can recruit. But Smart seems to be a better overall coach in my opinion. He will have a better basketball situation going to Texas. Seems like every coach has been snake bitten taking that Bama job. Wimp Sanderson send help.
