I see you are still drinking that MD 20/20. On the real, A&M will be okay running the football, The passing game will take some time to come around. You have to realize these kids are learning their 3rd offensive system in as many years. Defensively, you guys need to lay off blitzing so much and play a little more cover 2 and zone. This will keep you guys in a lot of games considering the pass happy SWAC. Control the ground and you will control the clock. A&M needs to run more screens and slants, and then go over the top with play action.

Blue, you bring up some good points but you know their DC is not going to do that.

AAMU posters,

Did Jones bring his OC with him? If so, what type of offense does he run?

Let me tell you...

.... we don't know anything. Read the paper, maybe they will put a story in there for you.

I should have said any AAMU poster aside from Mike. It has been shown over and over again that he don't know ****. I didn't have to read that in the paper.

Mighty Hornet,<br>I can talk serious and not smack. GR asked this thread to not be smack so I am not smacking (or hating on Ala State) so I'll just take your post as why do I think that way.<br><Br>First, my statement about coaching
the players at Southern believe in Pete....the GMEN players and fans believe in Doug, and even Alabama State believe in LC
Doug and Pete have won multiple SWAC championships, LC has not. I was really complementing LC to say that his players believe in him at that level. The main point though is that I don't think JSU players and fans believe in Hughes. A couple of losses and they will turn on him quick.<br><br>Secondly,

JSU, GSU and SU have the most talent from top to bottom. ALA ST has some talent at the high end (like Kennedy last year) but it drops a lot faster than at the BIG 3.
First of all, look at ALA State last year when they did not have Kennedy. When Southern played ALA State without Kennedy we beat the pure hell out of yall. Would we have won if yall had Kennedy, maybe not. But that is my point. You take the best 2 players off of Southern and we are still close to the same team because we got quality depth. (Ex. last year when we lost Hayes, Levy, and Singleton) Still, nobody came in and just beat the hell out of us like that. Your top 10-15 players are as good as anyone in the SWAC, but the dudes behind them just ain't as good. That why we ran over yall in Mobile. IF our second team played your second team, it would be a mismatch. Just to show I am not smacking, take PV. THey got about 8 players that are really good, that can compete anywhere in the SWAC. but they have no damn depth at all, so they will not win. Them same players get beat down during the game while a school like Southern is rotating fresh players in all game long. IT TAKES A TOLL. Injuries are also part of the game, and when someone goes down, how good is the replacement. I do think LC is getting there, and it really won't be fair to judge him for another year or so, when he has 4 of his recruiting classes ( I don't really count that first one)<br><br>The big 3 ain't fantasy, it is a reality you don't want to accept. That for anytime soon, it is front page news if any of the other 7 beats any of the big 3, and when you look over time, these 3 will be toward the top most of the time. A lot more often than you other 7. For example, show me how many All Sports trophies ALA STATE won. My bad, there I go with facts again.<br><br>
lil myopic notion.
<==what the hell does that mean??

Tiger Pride and Get Ready, <br> I know many of the players personally and all I will say is that they beleive in PETE. I can respect your opinions (being the strategist you are) but that is not the point. The players believe in him a will put every ounce of heart they have and leave it on the field (even if he makes the wrong call). The nation believes in him, your own posts agree with that. I'll will contrast that with SU Basketball, you may think Tommy Green (controlled offense) had a better strategy than Ben Jobe (shoot it 94 times a game) but the players did not believe in Tommy and it showed. Now for Jobe, whether you can run and gun or not, they will believe in it. His 2 guard in gonna throw them threes up like no tomorrow, and everyone on team will believe in it or they won't be on the team long. Now this year, we were not that good at it so we took a lot of ass-whippings, but those kids believed in it and never gave up (ex. at AAMU). Even if you don't have the best strategy, if you play your hardest, you will still win some.

After the Black & Gold Game (which I missed due to late arrival), I had the opportunity to visit with fans and some of the coaching staff (Man the Ascension Parish Tailgaters set out a serious spread...I even got to "sample" the Grey Goose!) The consensus is that we have some talented young players who will improve with time. Game experience is what's needed to get them to develop into team leaders.

After I left the campus, I went to visit my sons in Ruston and also drop in on some former Tech Players (one of whom has a brother that plays for GSU). At my sons' apartment and also at the other locations, there were a lot of players dropping by, eating barbecue and just hanging out. I was soooo impressed with the behavior, and mannerisms of these kids. The closeness and good natured kidding shows comaraderie. These kids were not just homeboys hanging out. There were kids from Cali, Georgia, New Orleans, BR, Monroe, offense, defense and regular students just being friends and enjoying each other.

I was glad to see Bruce Eugene hanging with the fellas and just being one of the guys. That goes a long way with the qb position. Before you can lead anyone, you must have first be one of the them...Bruce was mixing well (talking trash and just being one of the boys). Tramon Douglas (after a good game) was also in the mix. No mentioning of what he had accomplished, just chilling. I'm big on comaraderie (sp) and feel it's very key to winning!

Hey Mikebig....

You went to the B&G game, but you didnt make much mention to what happened during the game. And reason for that? Thats not like you.

Lewis,

You keep pointing to the games that ASU played without Kennedy as starting QB as some kind of evidence to prove our lack of depth. So, follow me as I also do the same to your big 3 in games without the starting QB

1)-Southern - Well, I saw the Bayou Classic. And yes you had injuries, but your superior depth and talent should have kicked in, right? Please tell me that you had a backup QB better than Richard over there because he was ummmmmm..... not good. In a game that big for SU--against your in-state rival, on national tv, with a spot in the SCG on the line, and Richard was the best you could do? All that depth and superior talent that SU supposedly has.

2)JSU-- vs a struggling UAPB team that won only 1 conference game. Since Kent was hurt, surely the backup QB's would step right in and JSU wouldn't miss a beat and put up their normal numbers, right? Final score-- JSU- 14 UAPB-9 (after a hurt Kent had to come into the game to pull out that win)

3) GSU--Starting QB is benched and in comes a backup to start a game. Since he's a backup at one of your big 3, it should've been the same ole, same ole--given all that depth they have, right. Well, GSU lost!!

The point I'm making is that its crazy to say that these 3 teams arbitrarily have a higher talent level than ASU last year. The numbers don't bear you out. Not the objective numbers----since ASU did win 2 games on the field aginst your big 3 and finished in 1st in the East. The subjective numbers --look at the All-SWAC teams and tell me why ASU tied with GSU and had more than SU or JSU.

As far as me not accepting your big 3 as reality, You're right. I don't accept that as reality. See, on game day, I'm not foolish enough to think that when your big 3 step on the field, the game is already over. If you're inclined to believe that, oh well.....

No smack intended, but could it be because the the teams you played on your schedule?

Blacknbengal,
For the most part, we play the same conference teams. That matters much more than the couple of nonconference games played.

AAMU posters,

Did Jones bring his OC with him? If so, what type of offense does he run?

TP, Jones is an unknown. All we know is that he was the headcoach at Morehouse. He coached in Div 2 which means that we will not be able to measure up to the former big three. As some have stated we will be known as 0-13 after this season. Futhermore, many of the players have quit so we are down to around 25 players. We have no QB and only two running backs are left. So as you can see this is why I am asking you all to send us some players. We will be lucky if we win one game this year. If you have a relative or church member please promote the fact that they will get a good christian education if they come to AAMU. We don't know if we will be able to have a Maroon and White Game on Saturday, because half of the twenty five are hurt. I just don't understand how we got into this terrible situation.

Jones did not bring his OC with him. I think he is still on the staff at Morehouse.

I will bring some schedules to the Reunion. I will charge $2.00 each to help supplement the host, because when you put on a function, you always come up short.

AND.......................

Furthermore, we don't have a strength program nor do we have a strength coach or coordinator. We passed the plate at my church on this past Sunday for collection to help get one(1) helmet that three players can alternate sharing. We are down to 22 players and 11 of those are on the injured list!!! We have no OC or DC. The new coach is trying to figure this thing out as he bumps along.

We have no QB and no leader on defense. We're HURTIN. We might get lucky and win one game this season?????????????/ :eek2: :eek2: :eek2:

Hey Mr. Intelligent?.Hey Dr. Spock?.Hey Einstein

We were trying to have a serious and I mean serious football conversation over here. Its OK if you have nothing to offer?.you never have. So do your best to leave the sarcasm at the door. Quit trying to be so sarcastanistic and leave the football talk to those who have a clue.

No smack...but tell me what you feel is going to separate your team and make them SWAC champions this year. I promise not to call Kent the best QB in football....bar none, on this thread. Let me hear it, and maybe I can understand your rationale. Then again, maybe most of us are just talking.

GR, you know we are in bad shape. But all we are doing is agreeing with the rest of the SWAC. We are not at your level. It took us a while to see it, but we have no intentions on quitting. Who knows what our unproven coach can and cannot do. But he does bring a good attitude with him.

MD,

I recall Mike going to practice for the last three years and telling us that AAMU was three deep at every position. Did all of those players leave?? What happened to the recruits Mike said you all stole from UGA and Texas?? Did they transfer to Stilman??

The new coach made some major changes in the way things are done around here. Some could take it and some could not. His rules are simple and to the point. Full scholarship players will have to be leaders. Student athletes will have to understand the value of that scholarship, if they don't understand what the terms are they must leave. Those players who came from D1A learned real quick that you cannot walk into the SWAC and play when you did not get any playing time at the larger schools. It seems as though they get hurt trying to prove they are better, but in reality a football player is a player no matter where he attends school.

Our offensive line does not have the depth, but with all those players leaving we can bring in some JCs to make up the depth.

Recruiting is never over and there are a lot of good players without scholarships.

Mighty Hornet, <br> I guess we can just disagree. BUt even taking the point you made, in each of your cases, the big 3 did not get blown off the field like your team did.
big 3 step on the field, the game is already over. If you're inclined to believe that, oh well.....
NO I don't, and I never said that. On any given Saturday, any of the big 3 can be beaten by one of the other 7. But that will be the exception and not the rule most of the time.<br>What separates them from you is last year was your best team in over 10 years and you guys jumped for joy to beat JSU by 3. If a weak JSU team beats Ala State by 3, they will not be happy, and be looking for what's wrong. Yall just ain't on that level. Accept it.

Now notice the parenthesis in the first sentence...the one that said, " I didn't attend due to late arrival". Good, now let me explain===> I couldn't comment on what I didn't see/witness. You act like I'm TigerPride !
