Serious Smack

Well MD has spoken. So all that's left to post is Alcorn. I know they have some good players down there, so I expect somebody to be stating their case. Where's Alcorn 86 and the others?

JR, every coach in the SWAC know that we are weak at QB, but at the same time I don't know if one of these guys can win the position or the coach must select the best of the three.

We have a freshman coming in that might be the key to the puzzle.

But if anyone know of a young man who is looking for a great opportunity to be a leader send him to AAMU or send MD a private message.

LOL@MD.

MD,
I don't know if any team in the SWAC can afford to send AAMU anything extra. Especially a QB. Nobody is stocked with extra Qbs that have been proven. All you guys need to do is recruit Mobile. They always have some Qbs come out of there.

JR, we have three from Mobile, including the Freshmen coming in.

Maybe the climate and pretty ladies get to them.

JST, GR said for this to be serious smack. Now while you may have some good backups. None have game experience, so the jury is still out on them. And if they all were that good. They would have not came to JSU to sit behind Kent for 2 more years, unless all of them are true Freshmen and Sophmores right now. So give us straight answers. No spin doctoring.

MD,
Maybe it's too cold in Huntsville for those Mobile "Beach" Boys.
It can't be the women at AAMU. Mobile is no slouch for having pretty women. So they should be used to it. Unless it is the other way around and there is a lack of the pretty ladies on the Hill.:D

JST, this is what I am talking about, parents allowing their kids to sit on the bench when they could be playing. They will sit around and lose the edge and some guy like Kent will come in and beat them out like T.C. lost his job.

Seriously!

You will see a much improved team this year only because of coaching. We had all the players we needed last year, but coaching stunk up the field. I'm sure you can ask everyone that was at the Grambling game last year what I mean. I do not need to bring up who we have because they are the same as last year. Look at last years roster and their stats.

No more will you see a WR wide open all the way down field all night with height advantage on the defensive back and the coach calls stupid trick plays. No more will you see a coach that doesn't have the intelligence to see that a team can't stop your running attack. No more will you see a team demoralized by offensive coordinators that are only in place for a check. WE ARE COMING TO WRECK SHOP!

We have coaches on staff that know how to motivate and instruct players on getting the job done through experience. Many of you do not understand what we just did when we hire Coach Jones. But, I'm here to tell you. Things are about to change. This will be the last year of the Big 3 Era. After this season you will understand why we said that Coach Townes was the defensive coordinator and not a co-coordinator. He will be unleashed again to do what he has lead our defenses of the past to do so many times before with total control. (You might not realize it but Townes has always produced great defensive schemes when allowed to do his job.)

We no longer need to smack about what we will do. WE ARE GOING TO DO IT! If you are in doubt, we will soon lift your veil.

After the Black & Gold Game (which I missed due to late arrival), I had the opportunity to visit with fans and some of the coaching staff (Man the Ascension Parish Tailgaters set out a serious spread...I even got to "sample" the Grey Goose!) The consensus is that we have some talented young players who will improve with time. Game experience is what's needed to get them to develop into team leaders.

After I left the campus, I went to visit my sons in Ruston and also drop in on some former Tech Players (one of whom has a brother that plays for GSU). At my sons' apartment and also at the other locations, there were a lot of players dropping by, eating barbecue and just hanging out. I was soooo impressed with the behavior, and mannerisms of these kids. The closeness and good natured kidding shows comaraderie. These kids were not just homeboys hanging out. There were kids from Cali, Georgia, New Orleans, BR, Monroe, offense, defense and regular students just being friends and enjoying each other.

I was glad to see Bruce Eugene hanging with the fellas and just being one of the guys. That goes a long way with the qb position. Before you can lead anyone, you must have first be one of the them...Bruce was mixing well (talking trash and just being one of the boys). Tramon Douglas (after a good game) was also in the mix. No mentioning of what he had accomplished, just chilling. I'm big on comaraderie (sp) and feel it's very key to winning!

Mike, I am trying to tell them AAMU might as well cancel the season. If we take a couple years off we may be as good as the former big three use to be. Yesterday at practice, the fans standing around were asking the trainer and coaches who is #81, 35 and a few more. I don't know any of them but due to the fact that this year the #1 Defense does not scrimmage against the #1 offense, we are seeing a few guys getting a chance to show. But from our fellow swackers we are going 0-11.

MD,
We don't think you will go 0-11 for the season, but your new name will be 0-13 instead of 0-10. :D

smdh
:smh:

Lewie,
You believe in that big 3 crap way too much bruh (cause there can be NO other reasonable explanation for that statement.)
The simple FACT is that not even counting Kennedy (Player of the Year) , ASU had 7 other players who were 1st team All-SWAC, including the SWAC's leading rusher, the country's best punter, and the guy who led the SWAC in sacks. So, if you don't even attempt to try to explain your lil assessment, I'll understand. :smh:

Lewie,
I know you hate Alabama State (you've said it, and I believe it). But, your hate is causing you to create dubious posts. Why wouldn't ASU believe in the job LC is doing? He's only been there for 2 years and he's made a big difference!!!
I know you're not too happy that LC and the HORNETS have beaten your beloved big 3 (the only coach in the SWAC to do it since he's been at ASU.) Just think, of the 7 games LC has coached the HORNETS against your beloved big 3, ASU has won 4 of them, including road games in baton rouge and jackson. I know that burns you up. But get over it and you'll be better for it.

Or, on the other hand, you can continue to live in your fantasy world of a big 3. And Alabama State will go on destroying your lil myopic notion.

JR,
now suppose the Lord is on our side, becasue we are a good Christian School. Suppose we have good Christian Officials who will make the proper calls. Suppose the conditions are right and we could end up 3-10.

Lewis,

What makes you think the players believe in Pete. I admit that Pete used to impress me. He seemed very organized and focused. He is also a take charge coach like Doug but what has he done the last two years to make you think he has not been exposed. Vite is gone and the offense is still sorry and and can't score because Vite is not giving them good field position.

TP,
Let me ask you something. Why do you now think Pete is not a good coach. He is 2 years removed from the SWAC title and has won 4 of them. So why are thinking because Vite is gone our D is no good. Didn't SU finish #1 in the SWAC last year in total D and number 1 in scoring D. Go look at the final stats yourself. Vite was a good coach no doubt, but didn't FAMU score all their points on Vite. Kind of odd all of the sudden these co-coordinators have stopped that from happening. As far as the offense, didn't Lewis and I both state the Orlando was getting stale and predictable. Pete is a defensive minded coach that likes to run the ball. Orlando went away from that and now he is gone. Pete has won with average QBs. While some coaches in the SWAC can't win with good ones. Eric Randall and Sam George were the best 2 Qbs Pete has had. The rest were decent enough to get the job done.

You have been listening to GR too much. Plus all great coaches have a good staff. Spurrier doesn't know squat about D so he had Stoops at UF for awhile and what does he do now, he goes and get Marvin Lewis. Hell, Jimmy Johnson said it best this weekend. You have to delegate and have a good staff to win. Pete has done that. How many teams would have won at FAMU with the 3rd string QB playing and a true freshman at RB. Or win games with all your key players injured at one time or another. Pete guys do not quit on him. Never have and never will. If you spend anytime around him you would realize he can flat out coach. From what you are saying. Since you say SU has no talent and no coaching, then why haven't we ended up 3-8 or 2-9 like others have. Make up your mind. We have to have something going to keep winning. I thought you knew football. No coach can do it all by himself. There always good assistants behind the great coaches. SMH @ Pete haters. Then I bet if we fired Pete you mofos would be on here saying SU got rid of a good coach. Hypocrites.:smh:

It is my belief that Pete is not a great coach. He certainly is not the coach that people make him out to be. Not only because his lack of coaching ability has shown without his assistants, but he also is not a good recruiter. He also makes some bonehead coaching decisions that bring him back to the rest of the pack. You guys will never fire no matter how horrible a year he has. Frankly, I dont think you should because he is the best you can get. If he gets you to a 6-5 season this year, then that would be an admirable job. But overall he should be able to do better with the resume you just gave.

BTW

Dont hang that victory over FAMU so high...they were a terrible with Day at QB.

Hold Up Mighty Hornet......I know we all don't like to hear about our programs...but is Lewis really that far off with what he said. And if what I gathered from his comments are correct, you helped to prove his point.

Now maybe I am wrong, but I think what he(Lewis) is talking about is a depth issue. I do believe that ASU has the talent. You had a ton of all swac players from last season, and your team was a beast, that played their arses off. But after your top 22, I just don't see you guys going that deep. And that showed in last years SCG. We were able to go a little deeper on our bench than you, and it helped us to win the game.

Now in a couple of years, at the rate LC is going. I don't think we will be able to say the same. But I just don't see where he has had the time to recruit depth just yet. We were in the same position in Doug's first 3 years. And it cost us dearly at times.

Now maybe I interpreted Lweis wrong, but you get my point!
.
.
.
.
.
The key to any of us winning is the development of our unproven talent. We all have to replace great QB's, except JSU. But even though they have a QB retrurning, they have to replace 2 NFL caliber WR's. And sometimes that is just as hard, look at FAMU last season. As good as Quinn Grey was..........after all the RAC boys, FAM's offense just wasn't very effective. All our recruiting and depth will be tested this season.

So Suge,

Since you're co-signing for Lewis,
tell me about SU's depth or JSU's depth and how it's more than ASU's. :smh: And then please explain how Cole has been able to beat your big 3 more often than not. Since we have no depth, buy all of yall do!

I don't know about everyone else but I seriously want to know more about AAMU, Alabama State, and TxSo. These programs have a lot of potential but I think the fans need to know what they bring to the table.
