Samsung Note 2 vs. Iphone 5

Devil's Gun Trigger Man

onward and upward son!
I'm really trying to make my mind up. The thing that I have hated about Samsung is the weakness of their batteries, but the more i am reading about the Note 2, the more I like. The only thing is I am hearing that it will go for about $300.

The Note II is to large for me. I've had a chance to play around with the original Note and it is most def a two handed device.

In my opinion, I don't think hardware should be the main factor in your decision. Yes, the battery can be an issue with the Note 2 or any Android phone, but you can just buy another battery to compensate for that. I think it should be which ecosystem or services you are willing to buy into....the Android or iOS. I don't have a Note 2 or an iPhone 5(yet), but I am heavy into iOS to the point I have purchase close to $300 in apps over a 2 or 3 year period between my phone and tablet. Also, I like the tight integration between my iPhone, iPad and Mac. So there's not an Android phone that would make me want to just walk away from that. There are “opinionsâ€￾ that Apple products cost more but it would cost me more to have any Android phone now because all my app purchases would be useless.

Most apps in the small Android ecosystem are free but the fragmentation from phone to phone can be a problem. With an Android phone, you buy it today and it may be obsolete tomorrow....especially if the phone has been out for a while. The Note 2 was released in August with Jelly bean or 4.1 and it may be irreverent by the summer of 2013 or a brick. A lot of new apps written for iOS will run on devices as far back as iOS 3.1...that's a 4 year iPhone 3G. Whatever iPhone that is free with a 2 year contract or about less $300 off contract will meet my needs and having a phone lost or stolen is not a big issue for me.

If buying apps is not your thing and you are into rooting, tooting, ramming, and rodding or whatever useless crap they do with an Android phone then the Note 2 Is for you.

Again, just my opinion….

Just got the Note 2 and I aint' never ever going back to the I-phone. Everything you want your I-phone to do, this thing does. I see why Apple wanted to get Samsung out of the market.

Details please

Overall, the Galaxy Note II is so much better than the I-Phone 5. Better graphics and display for games, additional memory storage--up to 128GB, bigger screen, better battery power and storage, ability to run multiple apps at same time simultaneously--including video, 1.6Ghz processor, and simply just better functionality. This is probably Androids best and smoothest device they've created thus far. With the new Jelly Bean operating system, the home screen is better than ever with widgits and the capability to change home screens with live wallpaper and unimaginable customization. Additionally, this is one of the first smartphones in the United States with a quad-core processor--and trust me it's fast as hell--and even faster after you root it. With data speeds roughly at 168mbps and 2 GB of RAM, this thing is lighting fast.

If you hate the iPhone 5′s virtual keyboard, too bad, you’re going to have to deal with it. That's the limitation of Apple because there are no other virtual keyboard options available for the iPhone 5. In other words, if the OS 6 keyboard is not your things, you are shit out of luck. With the the Note 2, you’ll have options to choose from on the Google Play Store. Keyboards like SwiftKey 3 are available should the generic keyboard feature with the phone not be adequate.

The main attraction, of course, is that gigantic 5.5-inch, 1280-by-720 resolution display and the S-pen (stylus-that let's you edit photos, pics, video, etc.) It feels funny and weird as hell trying to hold an I-phone after playing with this sucka.

Overall, this phone is smoother, better, has more capability and flexibility than the i-phone, and is simply faster.

That Inspire wasn't a great phone. Can you get an extra battery for the Note II. That has become one of my biggest issues with Apple. I have had to IPhones and had to buy 3 Mophie Juicepack battery cases with each of them as I travel a lot. I would rather just carry an extra charged battery.

You won't need an extra battery for the Note 2. I have it and the battery is by far the best i've ever experienced in a smartphone. With moderate usage I can get from 6 am til around 8 pm and still have roughly 50-60% battery left.

To add on top of this, I love the convenience of NFC google wallet. Half the time I don't even bother taking my wallet out of my pocket anymore when I go somewhere that has NFC readers since I can just swipe my phone and pay. I keep a separate prepaid card with extra money on it just to link to Google wallet and I love it. Gas station, restaurants, stores, etc. And the multiple windows thing is dope for when you're using GPS while driving and listening to music.

I forgot all about the navigation feature and running other music apps like pandora and rhapsody. The facts tthat google maps is built in was enough for me to say screw the I-phone. Lol.

Oh yea and Google now, but that's more of a jellybean feature. No matter where I am I always know what the traffic is like on the way home and to work and whether I should take a detour...and the best detour to take. Store/restaurant suggestions based on places i've visited.. i'm not gonna do the whole android/iphone discussion but there's just no way i'd ever go back to an iphone lol. The "it just works" thing isn't good enough for me. I know a lot don't use their phone for as much as I do but if i'm gonna have a smart phone i'm using it for all I can use it for. Also the media center features to where I can just have the phone connected to my home network via wifi and share pics/vids etc on my tv wirelessly.
