That's what makes me give them the side eye a lot of times. That and comparing their "struggle" to the civil rights movement. Just stop it.

Look at what happened with the Marco situation here. They got ahold of it and spinned it nationally as if Marco was campaigning as an openly gay candidate when he wasn't.

LOL keep believing that. We are better at acceptance, but some parts of society are still closed. Again, there's never been an openly gay player in the NFL. Even the fact that we still use the term "openly gay" means a lot. The first guy to put himself out there like that is gonna cause a firestorm. I suppose it'll be better for him to set the terms himself instead of being outed but still. Look at the comments on the board. The first NFL player we see kissing his partner on TV - what do u think is gonna happen then? You think folks are gonna say "ok"? LOL good luck.

THAT is the one thing that pisses me off about those folk. They want to compare their struggle to the civil rights movement and I'll be damned if the civil rights leaders of today have embraced them as an "improvished" and "over-ran" faction of people who've been denied their civil rights. :confused: I'm still searching for the sign that says "GAYS/LGB whatever that is to the Rear" or "Only Hetero People Here" on bathrooms and water fountains, businesses, et al.

BINGO!!! Some parts of society are still closed. Which is why I said this earlier:

What people who are members of the LGBT community need to understand is part of being accepted in the society we live in today is to accept the fact that EVERYONE isn't going to like/accept you for who or what you are. As long as you are not discriminated against, people have the RIGHT to like or dislike you.

Why is he making this grand stand of an announcement.. It better be somebody we have heard of. :lol:

This would be great if he announced he was dating a gay rapper and they were gonna get a reality show named Love, Rap, and Football with the Atlanta Security cop, Mama Dee, Flava Flav and MCHammer! I would def DVR that. :nod:
 
Rather you approve or not.. You will see more and more stories as such.. Not really surprising to me...

I mean look at Frank Ocean.. Dudes came out as Bisexual.. Now has a Grammy... Prior too... Most never knew who he was... Including me.. STILL don't...

If this Football player comes... I'm banking that he will receive much support.. financially, as well as socially.

Part of the Odd Future crew (which oddly enough has a lot of anti-gay music out and caused a strain with them for a long time but now I think they are back to speaking)
 
I hope this football player has a twitter cause when Frank Ocean came out, his twitter account was classic comedy!
 
The thing that gets me is how so many people are disturbed that an announcement is even being considered made, like it somehow would affect or inconvenience them in some manner. If you don't care, fine. But to get incensed about a possible announcement is awfully unproductive.
