Report: Gay NFL Player Considering Coming Out

Well, no active male athlete in a major professional team sport has made such an announcement.

They don't have to tell. The team already knows. Just like everyone knows who wife is the freak. Who is buying broads, who is fronting and blowing their money. Everyone from the front office to the water boy knows.

That doesn't make any sense. What do you think is going to happen when this players starts posting pics of himself with his lover? Do you think people will just shrug and say "oh how nice"? He was in the closet for a reason. Coming out of the closet is a big process. You act as if this is the first time someone has announced they're gay.

No, I'm not acting as if this is first time someone has announced they're gay. I'm saying you don't have to announce that you are gay at all. What people who are members of the LGBT community need to understand is part of being accepted in the society we live in today is to accept the fact that EVERYONE is going to like/accept you for who or what you are. As long as you are not discriminated against, people have the RIGHT to like or dislike you. People are disliked because they are black, white, gay, straight, skinny, fat, ugly, pretty, etc. There are probably people who dislike me for whatever reason, but am I going to stop being who I am because of it? Hell no. Screw them!

The same applies to gay people too. Be who you are.

I said the same thing about Don Lemon's ass at CNN when he felt the need to come out. A friend of mine who worked with Don Lemon when he was in St. Louis back in the day told me he was gay. He didn't care and neither did I. Don Lemon does his job well when he is on the set. Just give me the gott dayum news...I don't care about you being gay. But when Lemon felt the need to come out all of a sudden, what the hell did he do? Promote his book "Transparency". Lemon used his gayness to promote his damn book. That is the reason he came out.

It's a Baltimore Ravens player who is a big advocate for gay rights; they showed him on the steps of the Supreme Court yesterday with others awaiting the Supreme Court's decision. I bet it's him.

Scott Fujita and Chris Klewe are also big time LGBT rights advocates as well.

Brendon Ayanbadejo is who you are talking about. Well if he is. He better let his wife know then. She just had their second child last year I believe. I saw a story on dude. He is biracial. Nigerian Dad and Irish Mom I believe. I think that's why he is so outspoken about gay rights. Because of the way he was treated by some being a mixed kid. Either that or he or his wife has a gay sibling or something. He only started speaking out a couple of years ago. Maybe he wants to run for political office when he is done playing.

The reason gay people "come out" is because, with a few exceptions, it's assumed that you're straight. And if you're a professional athlete, chances are you've been playing "straight" all this time. My guess is he's tired of hiding who he is. Maybe he has other motives, I have no idea. You say you don't care, a lot of folks do. Being gay is still taboo for a lot of folks in this country. Being ugly won't keep you from getting drafted, but being gay sure might.

Ooooooooooooooooooooooh shit I shouldn't  but I cannot help it. :emlaugh: Man.... what is this world coming to? lmao

If the statistics that have been reported about the percentage of Americans who support same sex marriage is any indication, which is over 60%, being gay is no longer taboo. And if being gay is going to stop you from being drafted...that would be ILLEGAL.

Well, if that's the case, why hadn't someone considered coming out before now?

Because it wasn't necessary to do so then as is the case now.

It would've been career suicide to do so before now. Still might be.

Also, sexual orientation is not a protected class under Title VII. So we can't say refusing to draft a gay player is illegal. And if so, you really think that would stop anyone?

Former Texas Connor Barwin is also an advocate. His brother is gay.

Hey...you got me there. I'm no attorney. But I am sure there is some kind of human rights law out there that protects gay folks.

With that said...I still say, that NFL player needs to just be him.

BINGO here is the key tho this whole coming out business "LGBT" are pushing this bullshit...They are everywhere ramming and forcing their lifestyle down hetros throat (Pun Intended)...We know you exist we know you are serious about doing what you do...But everybody don't want to participate in your SIN and accept it...I keep mine to myself...I wish they go sit their ass down!

Well that's sorta the point. A gay NFL player can't just "be himself". He has to hide. He can't bring his "partner" around without arousing curiousity. He can't show off his partner at events and such. Just that one pic of 2 dudes kissing disgusted half this board. You got DCG talking about not throwing their sin in our faces. What do u think happens in real life? IMO, the dude should stay in the closet. Folks aint ready for that yet.

I promise you them old white men who own those teams aint part of that new age 60%. Plus, not drafting a player is so subjective, there would be know way to prove he wasn't drafted because he was gay.

Yep, see Don Lemon.

What products has Don Lemon been pitching, or what companies other than CNN has asked him to do advertising for them? He might make dough off his books or speaking engagements, but I don't see dude in commericals. I know folks have brought up Ellen, but Lesibans are treated far differently than gay males when it comes to corporations. You really think Underarmor or one of these shoe companies wants a gay dude to be the face of their corporation? It would ruin the image of masculinity they'vd promoted

So you think "coming out" is going to some how change that level of curiosity? People are going to say/think/react the way they want to regardless. If he wants to bring his partner to the Christmas party, just bring him. The people in the house will get the picture. If they don't like it; tough. Remember, over 60% of Americans support gays in all they do. We are a much more tolerant society now.

My post up there ^^^^^ (thanks P) about Don Lemon was about the TIMING of his announcement. The same time he announced he was gay, he was promoting his book.
