Why ya'll so worried about JSU? The ONLY HBCUs that concern the MIGHTY JSU are Grambling and TNState. The rest of you will get one in every now and then but we have one thing you don't. WE ARE JACKSON STATE! YOU ARE NOT.

... and as for Jenkins, he is a good coach. The hottest on the HBCU market but he lost to a bad Norfolk State team last and a bad Hampton team this year. Ain't nobody got reason to be scared of him.

TP, you know everybody can loose a few games now and then, but yall went and hired a man where the shovels are already sticking in the dirt. :shame:

Well...uhh...based on some information a well informed, well respected, insider told me at the SCG, there may be some more news coming regarding the MEAC and FCS playoffs.

But that is another story :read:

I see what you did right there and I heard the same thing.

We hired the coach we wanted. That is all you need to be worried about. The people (alumni) who run JSU (not TSPN) wanted Old Man Jackson and so that is what we have. If you want us to get a new coach, you shole better put a much better team on the field than you did this year.

TP, you know relationships are strong in the HBCU World. Harold might as resign so yall can hire Spears.....or Cole.

Its not that big of a secret... geez! It's been discussed many times and over on the MEAC board a week or so ago.

Experienced the same in 2010 when a deal was ready to be signed and SC State and FAMU backed out. That deal was $3.3 million from ESPN to host the "Legacy Classic." At the time, the SWAC was going to discontinue the SCG because of the NCAA rules on playing two post season games. If it happens and the rule change is still in effect, the SWAC will have to go back to a Pre-SCG Champion.

:tup:If this is about to be true then good hire Bama State! Definitely an upgrade from Barlow!

Spady and company need to pull all stops with recruiting and implementing that "Pistol" and turn the corner now!

mumbles to self, somebody at Bama State got money under the table..how they pull this off???

I always wondered what Jenkins could do wih the talent that Barlow had. This might be interesting.

That rule was not in effect in 2010. That rule went out in the early 2000's. The SCG is safe.

Galveston???

Solid Hire by Bama State... but Jenkins is going to realize is MUCH easier to recruit college kids to Daytona Beach over Montgomery. With BCCs location... they should run HBCU sports in every sport... I went to the school this summer.... its 1 mile from the Worlds Most Famous Beach.

Hey Tigerpride no smack intended but didn't you guys try to lure Brian Jenkins last year? What happened with that? I forgot...

THAT depends on who you ask. Some people say we offered him and he turned us down. He applied for the job but cancelled his trip to Jackson for the interview once it leaked. Some people say that the job was ONLY going to Harold Jackson. You have a faction of alums who have wanted Harold Jackson as the coach since at LEAST 1999. Some people say that the committee chose Hughes over Jackson and Jenkins but the AD pressed her override button. So bottomline.. I DON'T KNOW AND DON'T CARE. We have our coach!

first of all, Bama State will win the SWAC in 2 years....if not next year. he will dominate.

Next, I hope what people are hinting at is true, about the MEAC and the playoffs....because if it is, then I know what SCSU will do in response, which is what we want them to do anyway. So please...PLEASE Dennis....be stupid enough to to it...

PLEASE

Okay, I understand the alumni faction but you lost me when you say "we have our coach." You really think ole Jackson is still the man huh?

A Legacy Bowl would most likely mean the end of the SWAC Championship game, although Sharp said the school presidents could opt to keep it.

Should the MEAC accept it, the SWAC is ready to combine the East and West Divisions next season into one standing and the team with best overall record would earn the bowl bid. If not, Sharp said the SWAC will go about the business its pursued for the past 90 years.
