Boy, these Gramblinites are some special people ...... specially EDUCATED that is.
You can talk all the **** you want about what you think you are going to do, but as a great SWACPage legend once told me, BUST them with facts kid. They can't refute it because it's truth.
Fact One: As someone has said, if you can name the last team in the SWAC Modern era (1975-now) to have a winning record, much less win a SWAC Title, that has had to replace NINE offensive starters, I'll give you a NETS NBA Championship ring?
Fact Two: Who are you replacing? If anyone thinks Southern's WR crew is depleted, look up North. For the last few years, your leaders have been Randy Hymes (before becoming QB), Levi Washington, Scotty Anderson, Ellis Spears, and Chris Highshaw. Now, unless something has changed that I don't know, these kids ain't playing in Black and Gold next season.
Fact Three: Who replaces them? Tramon Douglas (JR), DJ Clay (SR), Delvyn Lewis (SO), Terry Cooper (SO), Thyron Anderson (SR), and LaTroy Calhoun (SO). Anybody know these kids besides Douglas (because he is a BR product) and Anderson. Hell, Anderson is the only one of this group over 6'0! You guys were talking about who was going to get the ball to SU's corp or receivers. I ask you this: Who the hell is Eugene going to throw to?
Fact Four: You answered that question, sort of, when you said you would be more of a running team to set up Eugene and your young passing game. Brad Hill would pace the .... err ... hold up! He won't be there either. So, you expect everyone to believe that a person who was NOT on your roster last year, a freaking newcoming freshman, is going to be the base of your running game? I mentioned Vernon, but only as a special teams player and a change of pace guy in the running game. This is SAD!
Fact Five: Bruce Eugene. How much time did this kid really get? He played against Texas Southern and a series or two against Southern. He, apparently, put one on Texas Southern (how much is that worth now days?), but did absolutely nothing against SU and was SACKED twice in the two drives he led with a Grambling lead! I know you have a transfer from somewhere in Texas .... you might want to get him ready.
Fact Six: Defensively, you lose six of 11 to graduation. And Pearson, according to the Bayou Classic guide, wasn't one of those six. You lose Spears, Pearson, Robinson, Robert Taylor, Duke, Hall, and Ron Johnson. Plan on filling this group from the 38 you signed?
Grumbling ..... kept to scaring the little kiddies of the SWAC .... you ain't scaring nobody worth anything with these problems.
