Mighty Dog, Hornetswarm.
Nice job MD. Sounds like a voice of reason.
Hornetswarm hits the nail on the head. HBCU conferences must think bigger. The PWCs, as usual, have this thing down to a science, a business.
The SWAC and MEAC have a golden opportunity to take HBCU football to the next level. That Tennessee State is not in an HBCU conference is totally unacceptable. HOW IN THE UCKF DID THAT HAPPEN??!!! YOU GOTTA BE KIDDING ME!!:redhot:
I have heard about how several HBCUs CONSISTANTLY outdraw, for example, Troy State University, a PWC in Alabama that has made the move to Div 1A,,, but yet HBCU conferences languish in virtual obscurity except among us grads of HBCUs??!!!!
Blacks tend to become content and live off the perverbial fat of the land and adhere to "tradition" and "the status quo" worse than the white folks who unsuccessfully attempted to maintain segregation in the 50s and 60s!!!!
How in the heck can the SWAC(or MEAC, or SIAC, or CIAA) be losing money and/or stagnate as a conference??!!
Accountibility, credibility and professionalism need to go without saying among the leaders of the HBCU conferences and schools. Other than that, maybe we need to think out of the box. If not an NCAA playoff,,, why not a SWAC/MEAC playoff were a 12 team SWAC/MEAC send 4 division winners and 2 wildcards into an HBCU Div I-AA playoff (or the top 3 teams from each conference and a wild card from each conference)? How about an HBCU Allstar game?
AND, heaven forbid, perhaps it is time for the SWAC to look at joining the NCAA playoff format.
