Police: Charges for JSU players up to grand jury

It will be hard to prove those named had anything to do with it, especially given that there may be very little evidence to support it and no one initially called the police. If the "witnesses" who pointed out the players are the same "witnesses" who claimed that Henderson was "jumped 3 times" and failed to mention that he left the apartment only to return with his gun-toting cousin with the intent to kill Jackson State students, uhhhhh... you get the picture. :spin:

This is somewhat alongs the lines of accessory to a crime.... they may not have pulled the trigger, but definitely contributed to the situation. So YES... it deserves and requires further investigation.

Agreed.

I wonder if the community is fed up with stuff like this. I wonder if the grand jury and prosecutor will try a little harder to see that these guys go to trial. I know that's not really their job, but I'm sure it happens.

This account of the incident just sounds perfectly against the football players and perfectly in favor of the victim. Just saying.

Ok, now this I dont understand:

At one point, they broke free of the melee, and tried to leave again, but Nelson said seconds later, Henderson was stopped and attacked again.

"He turned his back and was walking out. He didn't even talk noise to them, he wasn't cussing them out or anything," Nelson said.

When they were able to get away from the group again, Nelson said they attempted to leave by taking a back way around some buildings, but the crowd had moved outside the gate.

Henderson was attacked again, Nelson said.
So, the guy got jumped on once? Then he turned his back and started "walking away"? Then he gets jumped on again? Who gets jumped on and turns their back and "walk away"? Never seen that before. I've seen people running away that had gotten "jumped" on, but never "walking away".

And by my count, that's only twice that he "allegedly" got jumped on. What happened to the 3rd time?

Urban Legend at its finest

Black people kill me questioning the validity of the Willie Lynch Letter. Whether it happened or not, the content of that letter depicts what has gone on in the African American community since slavery, but yet we have not done anything to prevent it. We would rather argue about who wrote it than accept the fact that everything in that letter is true. We are who we are as a people because we are our own worst enemy.

I agree with, J. That letter is not the reason why blacks have the attitudes or are in the social position they are in today and have been for a while.

My sentiments exactly.

Right! Who is this Nelson dude? One of Ryan's friends? Ok. Gotcha. Well, we do know that Ryan's family knew who the shooter was and didnt want to tell the authorities, so is it hard to believe that Ryan's friends will do whatever they can to pin it on whoever?

The charges will be dismissed. This situation is waste of time and the witnesses have already proven not to be credible.

Then this Nelson guy also stated that he returned with Ryan and his cousin that carried the gun to confront the guys? Isnt that accessory?

Non, take a very close look at what this Nelson dude is saying.

Nelson described how he, Henderson and two other friends attended the party. He said he saw Henderson talking to another male.

Nelson said Henderson and his other friends headed back to the dorm, but that Henderson was still angry, and called Emerson.

They met Emerson, Nelson said, and returned to the apartment complex. Nelson said there was no clear plan about what they would do when they got there.

They confronted the alleged attackers at an apartment the party moved into. Nelson said he saw someone with a gun in the group as they came from the apartment.

"The angle I was standing at, I saw it real good," he said.

Nelson said he yelled to the others that they needed to go, but the party-goers started arguing with Emerson, who fired shots in the air.
This guy story has toooooooooooooooo many holes in it.

Exactly, which is why I'm not even entertaining this garbage. Anyone with an ounce of sense and logic could dissect the alleged accounts and realize that the only people attempting to cover up anything are the victim's family and "friends". :shame:

Open and shut case....they knew damm well who brought the gun to the party....at worst the players will get simple assault..but other than nothing will happen...and like Beans say all this is coming from the victims side..

EXACTLY *wait...daymn I agreed with you* :smh: :emlaugh:

But seriously...maybe I could have said it better and made it sound "pretty" but at the end of the day focusing on the football players that jumped Henderson is a waste of time. Which is why I said, "it's a cop out".

The focus should be on the person that brought a gun to the fist fight and pulled the trigger.

Does that sound better!?

Case closed.

Side note: I agree with Pop when I saw the author of this thread. "Hate". :shame:

They aren't accessory to the murder. At worst they are guilty of assault/battery.

Point Bank when his Friend was angry still, he should have been a better friend in said man lets just go to the room, and start yalling "F@ck dem Fools" then went to bed... he would have lost his pride but not his life..
