Just wondering what you think your schools perfect football schedule would be and explain why you picked those school you would put on the schedule....

Use the 9 game mandate or preference that you would not use it if you could get rid of it and explain that reasoning as well...

You have to take in consideration all the aspects of your Athletic/football program at your school and the needs of that department and the fan-base that supports that department.

This should be fun...

Southern University ( in my opinion)

With 9 Game SWAC game mandate (am I my brother's keeper...yes I am)

then our outer conference games should be the Atlanta Football Classic vs FAMU, as long as the Dollars stay right, and then an every other year rotation with ULL and Tulane....Easy trips, Paydays, builds and keeps strong connections in those areas where you need to be strong for athletes and for students....

That's mine what's Yours?

Re: Play AD for a day!...Pick your school's perfect football schedule and explain why

Without the 9 game mandate(which as AD I would definitely seek to get rid of because it limits our schedule opportunities):
Year 1
vs. Northwestern State
at Louisiana-Lafayette
at Tennessee State
vs. FAMU (Atlanta Classic)

Year 2
at Northwestern State
vs. Tennessee State
at UL-Monroe
vs. FAMU (Atlanta Classic)

Year 3
at Georgia
vs. Norfolk State
vs. Southeastern Louisiana
vs. FAMU (Atlanta Classic)

Year 4
at Norfolk State
at Tulane
vs. Northwestern State
vs. FAMU (Atlanta Classic)

Year 5
at Northwestern State
at Louisiana Tech
vs. Bethune-Cookman
vs. FAMU(Atlanta Classic)

I really like the thought of starting a in-state series with Northwestern State. Each year, I would schedule 1 FBS-opponent, 1 Southland Conference Opponent(Northwestern State or SLU), and 2 HBCUs(FAMU and Tenn State/Norfolk/Bethune-Cookman). Let's face it, you know our fans want to see us play HBCUs in the OOC too, so this way we can pay the bills with the FBS opponent, play 1 non-HBCU FCS team, and give our fans 2 HBCU games.

I see no reason to travel that far to play Norfork State.

Re: Play AD for a day!...Pick your school's perfect football schedule and explain why

It's pretty sad that certain nameless schools in the SWAC caused the 9-game mandate to occur due to lack of scheduling capability. :smh: So, I wouldn't want PV to need the 9-game mandate crutch. W/ that being said, 7 SWAC games. :read:

The 4 OOC games would be 4 of these: SHSU, SFA, UT-SA, Texas State, UNT, Lamar, SMU, UofH, Rice, aTm :read:, McNeese St, and Texas College/Jarvis lol/Huston-Tillotson lol/Bishop :smh: / Wiley lol/ because there's an air of non-competitiveness and fear about PV so it needs to throttle one opponent OOC.

Re: Play AD for a day!...Pick your school's perfect football schedule and explain why

I see no reason to travel that far to play Norfork State.

I do, especially if you can get a Homecoming for Homecoming agreement. Living on the EAST coast, you realize how these people don't know real BCF. I would love for JSU to play @ Howard @ Hampton, @ Norfolk and @ A&T on the regular. I think it's good for the exposure and for the fanbase. But I would also like to see JSU play in the Midwest (@Chicago, @ Indy @ Detroit @ STL) from time to time. Not yearly but enough to get interactions.

When JSU had our first Cabaret in Philly, I invited the SU alumni chapter and this SU alum walked in and a lady from Shaw asked him "where is Southern?" She sits around and talks about how it's nowhere to sit at a Shaw Homecoming... and she don't even know what JSU and SU in the South doin!

Re: Play AD for a day!...Pick your school's perfect football schedule and explain why

It is for my own selfish reasons to see the band matchup. lol

I don't see why SU would want to go against them. They sound good on certain songs but that is where it ends. Have you seen them drill? They can't. I don't see much of a battle there BUT I still think it would be a helluva homecoming on the Bay if NSU and SU hooked up with both bands in the house!

Re: Play AD for a day!...Pick your school's perfect football schedule and explain why

I was at Norfolk State in February. Nice campus and an SU-Norfolk game at Norfolk would bring the SU folk living in DMV down I-95. Also, there's a lot of good talent in the Va Tidewater/Hampton Roads area

The majority of their band directors went to SU.

Re: Play AD for a day!...Pick your school's perfect football schedule and explain why

Tuskegee-for historical purposes

Year 2

ULL
Nicholls St-build a fan base in south louisiana.
TNSU- i'm sure they would love to get revenge how we did them in Vegas lol.

Year 3

McNeese-build a fan base in south louisiana
ULM
Steven F. Austin-try to attract some more Texas talent.
Morgan State in (New York)

Year 4

With the 9 game mandate: Delta State (for obvious reasons), Tennessee State or Arkansas State (going with the proximity reasons)

Without the nine game mandate: Year 1) Delta State, Arkansas State (proximity, try to get into Arkansas), UT-Martin (H/H), Jacksonville State (try to get into the Alabama talent pool)
Year 2) ULM, Central Arkansas (proximity, try to get into Arkansas), UT-Martin, Tennessee State
Year 3) Georgia Southern, McNeese State , USA, Tennessee State (H/H)
Year 4) North Texas, McNeese State (H/H), NCCU (H/H), Georgia Southern (H/H)

Number 1....I just personally don't see the purpose in playing a Southland Conference school....there is more on the table to loose than to gain....sure winning the game would build your rep, but loosing the game would tare down your rep...and a 50/50 chance with your rep on the line with no financial gain....where as you play those in-state 1A schools with a 60/40 chance at winning, and if you loose the game it does nothing to your rep, but if you win it builds it greatly. Plus you get a payday for that win win situation...that's all I'm saying...

I totally disagree. Also, playing an in-state 1-A school (except for MAYBE UL-Monroe) you have a 5/95% chance of winning (I'm assuming we are not including LSU cause that would be negative chance of winning). You play to win. If you lose, you lose. If you are scared to compete with those on your level, drop to D2.

A post I can agree w/. Excepting, I think the probability is more like 1%/99%. The foolish desires and wants don't match reality, at all. :smh: Can't take a knife to a gunfight. lol

ULL and ULM are D-1 by name only lol. They are very beatable.

Dude, not one of us can beat a Sunbelt school. You just co-signed dude saying he scared to play a Southland team yet you call a Sunbelt team beatable. Is a Southland team beatable too? Didn't ULL beat ya'll by like 4 TDs already?

But those schools are beatable....The reason we(SWAC Schools) haven't won any goes back to all the other threads.

I would like to see some of these matchups:
SU play SMU or UNT - There's a good number of SU'nites in the DFW and I think they would come out
J-State play GA State and Northwestern - Good for the fans in the ATL and Chicago.
GSU go back to Cali and revitalize a game in the New York area - I think Grambling did well (financially and publicly) when they played San Jose back in '03. I think a game against another game agnst them or 1 of the San Diego teams would go well with the GSU peeps from Cali. The NY area or the DC area would go well.

That is if I were AD of 1 of those schools.

He didnt say he was scared. It makes no sense to play them and help the your competition out when they are struggling at the gate.
