[h=1]Ex-Nittany Lions to appeal sanctions[/h]

http://msn.foxsports.com/collegefootball/story/former-penn-state-players-appeal-ncaa-sanctions-sex-abuse-scandal-080712

A group of former Penn State players, led by former quarterback Michael Robinson, has notified the NCAA that it intends to appeal the harsh sanctions placed upon the football program for the Jerry Sandusky child sex abuse scandal.

Paul V. Kelly, an attorney for former Nittany Lions quarterback Michael Robinson and seven others who played for Penn State at some point during the 14 seasons in which the NCAA vacated victories, sent an intent to appeal letter to the NCAA dated Aug. 7.

If they can prove that the President did not have the authority to sign the consent decree, I think they can prove the case that the NCAA had no grounds to vacate the wins, especially since they did not follow their own process.

I thought they said an APPEAL WAS NOT AN OPTION????

That's what the NCAA is saying. These guys will go to Federal Court about this. The same way Vilma has the NFL and Goodell scared now. Also the Penn State Board of Trustees are going to take the NCAA to court saying that the current Penn State President did not have the authority from the board to agree on that NCAA penalty and that the NCAA threatened worse if the president didn't sign.

This aint over.

That's why they first want to question the authority of the PSU president signing that agreement with the NCAA. If they can prove that lacked the authority, they have a chance at appeal.

Exactly. The board has said, he did not act with their permission or vote. This might get ugly. There is a possibility the NCAA loses this in court. Robber done told us the NCAA over stepped their bounds and all us TSPN lawyers disputed him.

They have no standing. The appeal will go nowhere.

No standing with the NCAA. But this is going to land in real court soon. Folks thought Vilma and NFL players had no stance against Goodell until Vilma took it to civil court with his defamation suit and now the NFL wants to negotiate with him. LOL. If this goes to court, the NCAA might be in trouble.

They don't listen to nobody when they get going on here. :lmao:

I said the NCAA was punishing people that committed no NCAA violations at all. Not one violation was committed by the football team. This was just the administration covering their azz at the football teams expense when they agreed to this.

I hope they win this appeal and REPEAL all that power the NCAA gave itself with that new "law" they made up.

Yep. The NCAA basically got permission from the other NCAA presidents of these schools to impose these penalties. How self serving was that. LOL. While I do agree Penn State need to be held accountable for this. I always thought the Government needed to conduct their own investigation and deal with it that way. The NCAA only went after the football team. Why not the whole athletic dept. After all, the AD was involved in the cover up. Surely he was protecting all of Penn State athletics and not just football. If you gone do it. Do it right. This was something to appease the public and media. Now if this goes to real court. They may lose just like they did to Tark the Shark. LOL.

Robber and others tried to tell these people on here about the process and how the NCAA overstepped their boundaries on this. The court of public opinion IS NOT AN ACTUAL COURT.

I too, hope these people win the appeal and force the NCAA to repeal that new found power they arbitrarily made up (without even getting a full vote of its membership like they did with the death penalty).

Oh BTW

Cee I am sad about the victims. But I do not want the NCAA with this kind of power. Especially when this crime was bigger than Football anyway. It was deeper and the Feds need to get off their arse to see who all is really involved. Penn State football was a scapegoat in this and Joe Pa is dead. I rather see ALL the folks punished than the football program who did not rape those kids and they were not the ones who covered it up. Even the sitting Gov of PA refused to prosecute or investigate Sandusky when he was the Attorney General. I wonder why? But this same Gov took campaign donations from Second Mile. Some folks are hiding behind that football program and all they want is us in the public to hang Penn State football and forget that this goes way beyond that. The NCAA had no jurisdiction in this and if they will do this to Penn State. Just wait until we have some type of scandal at our HBCUs and you know we do. Might not be sex related to boys. But with this kind of power, we better be worried that they will use the same to nail us on something.

DNice and I were talking about this case and we both have agreed that folks are focusing in on the wrong thing in this case trying to punish Penn State football. Where were the parents just letting some man take their kid all over the place when you know damn well folks in that small community heard the rumblings. Where was the community who allowed Sandusky and his cronies because there are others, do this to them young boys. To me it is to easy to just punish Penn State football and call it a day.

For some reason I feel if pen'um down u was a HBCU some of these posters on here cheering for sandusky and nem would be offended that they were even trying to appeal. Hell I think they should shut the whole damn school down for 3-4 years. Because aint no way in hell only those 4-5 guys knew, covered it up, and kept it quiet all on thier own. You mean the janator didn't tell nobody? Not even his wife, fishing buddy, or his barber? Come on now, for real? Also, don't forget ole'gul Karma. This group push to hard....(remember feds and funding issue is still out there).

I agree the football team should not be punished. The whole school needs to be shut down, but because we know the school will not be shut down or punished, someone has to answer, and that goes back to the root cause of it all. The football team.

I agree. But I think it goes beyond the school. So you can't shut Penn State down if there are POLITICAL folks out there bigger than Penn State that knew this was going on. It goes deeper than that. Those few men were afraid of more than just some scandal rocking the football program. Because as I have said on here. If they told on Sandusky right away. They would look like heroes. I think they knew it involved more than just Sandusky. Why would you protect an assistant coach who isn't coaching anymore. Makes you go hmmm...

The public should NOT be satisfied with these NCAA sanctions. They need to put pressure on law enforcement/lawmakers to further shake the tree and see what comes out.

I would agree with that if the ONLY thing that has happened is the NCAA punished Penn State football. That aint the case. Sandusky will spend the rest of his life in prison. As he should. The people who covered up and enabled his crimes will have to pay the piper too. Paterno has been rightfully taken off his pedestal. The NCAA can't question the parents or the community. Penn State football plays in the NCAA. The NCAA punished Penn State football.

I disagree that the root cause was the football team. The root cause is somebody even bigger than the names we all know is involved with this. The football program is only getting mentioned because it is easy to put this on them. I think someone even more powerful than Joe Pa knew something or would have been exposed. But that is just me. The only reason everyone focused on football was because of Joe Pa and Sandusky. But in reality this had nothing to do with the team per say. If those men were not afraid of someone or something. Aint no way that they hide something about a former assistant coach who does nothing for the program. Not to mention, if Joe Pa was scared about this leaking. Why would he even tell the AD, the VP and the President? You do like Tressel did. You don't say isht. LOL. Especially when Joe Pa knew the Board was after his job back then. At that time Penn State was struggling on the field and it was calls for his retirement. If Joe Pa wanted to keep this hushed, the conversation he had with McQuery and McQuery's Dad about what that coward saw in the shower would not have ever been reported to no one at Penn State. Something more was going on.
