Parents Parents Parents

One of my coworkers was reassigned pending an investigation because a parent said that he was too rough with her child while breaking up a fight. The truth is the kid hit him and he still only held the child by the back of his pants, yet there was a news story on it and the mother is publicly calling for this teacher's (a very good teacher by the way) job. Never did they mention that this child just returned to school after making bail because he has a charge of attempted murder hanging on him, and a juvenile rap sheet as long as my arm, and for this reason CPS is looking to remove him from the home with his mother anyway, but the teacher is the one suffering, thats bullshat. There were no less than 3 fights at the school yesterday, and I advised teachers not to break em up. Just call the officer and wait for them to tire out or kill each other, but fugg putting my job, freedom, and life on the line for an unappreciative public and system that expects you to do the impossible with absolutley no support at all!

When I saw this on the news I figured the kid was a bad ass. I bet your coworker wishes he had smacked the hell out of him now.

So are you going to leave work and come and discipline your child????

Should we continue to put up with the disrespect until you get there???? See this is why I am debating going back into the classroom. Folks think you are not suppose to touch their kids and they tell them that and the end result is a smart arse teenager screaming you cannot touch me *****( is way out of line)...

If I have to, I would come to the school. If all else fails, I would tell the teacher to discipline my child.

"Good morning! I'm SO SORRY to be keeping you from doing your job, but at the moment, your child is keeping me from doing mine. Since I'm sure we ALL have an EXTRAORDINARY amount of something to do today, would you mind taking a few minutes to speak on his behavior with him? He's right here. Well, sir, the entire class is here, as well. Put you on speaker, anyway? Okay, then! Just ONE MOMENT!!" :D

I've NEVER had to do that to a kid more than once.

The only reason why I would not do that is because GUD don't need nobody trying to use that as an excuse!!!! I could hear the moma now I don't appreciate Mr. Dunlap putting me on speaker in front of the entire class. I don't even wanna give you anything else to focus on. I just get so mad at how much kids are able to get away with. Folks come into my office begging and crying I don't need the tears SAVE IT!!! Your child should have thought about his behavior and all other things that come along with shcool before we reached this point. I have one student sitting in my office right now sleep that called me TSPN a niggum at least 20 times in my face and I just looked at him. I am now waiting on the police to come and remove him to a new location and it's called the COUNTY JAIL(17 yr old)!!!!!! I only wanted to talk with him this morning about his continued behavior and absences from school and he thought "oh I better put on a show for my friends". Well go right on ahead buddy and i'll put on my show when your arse is walked out of here in handcuffs....

GUD, Vinita was saying the parent WANTED to be on speakerphone so he could embarass his kid. :)

Uh, no, these parents ASK to be put on speaker, then say they don't care when I tell them that it isn't just the kid and I in the classroom!

The look on a kid's face when I have that conversation is priceless! I never put them on speaker, though. I'd always tell the parent that I couldn't get it to work.

I'ma call and bug yo azz RIGHT AT WORK, and document all that boorish assed behavior, until SOMEONE is pissed off enough to do something about it, or all my documentation gets his/her ass sent off to AEP or some isht.

That's what I'M gone do. Can't speak for anyone else.

You call a parent and disrupt their work day as their kid is disrupting yours enough times, they're either going to get with that kid, or get his ass the hell outta my classroom.

I win either way. :D

Damn straight!

I say tighten they lil butts up at school; right then when they actin out!!! I have no problem with it at all...
And, if the teachers have a problem tightening they butts up, I would quickly volunteer for that committee...

It is entirely too little discipline in our schools today. They will suspend you (i.e. send you on a vacation), but that is not cutting it....:smh:
Too many times, you see such a lack of discipline/structure at home, that you clearly can see why there are many problems. That is another reason that "someone" should have the opportunity to help get these kids on the right track.

Don't take my sterness for anger. I am that parent in the mall and at the park and at the games telling the fellas to pull their pants up; put on a belt; take off that doo rag in public; hold the door for that lady and little girls; stop cussing around these folks;take your hat off in here....etc. We need more willing workers in our "villages" for there are too many children that need to be "raised".:lecture:

Whew! Now that I have gotten off my soapbox.....carry on.....:hat:

I disagree. I want my soon to be disciplined by the people who have are with him the majority of the day. Stop the BS right when it happens and then I will handle his behind when I get him home. When I was growing up ANY adult could straighten a kid out. Don't wait for me, if you care about him and MOST teachers do, you correct that behavior right there. Now there are teachers how are rotten SOBs, but you know who they are immediately when you meet them.

And Nita is right, calling me at work gets me into ACTION mode, because I can't leave my office or court to deal with his bad ass. My son had problems last semester adjusting to middle school and he was acting out in class, just doing horribly. I found out what the trip was and did some behavior modification, met with the teachers to tell them I supported him and now he has calmed down and back to business. He is not a bad kid, very polite, kind and obedient. He had some issues and I cancelled his subscription. :lecture: You should have sent him to me for a little shaping up!!!  He's doing great now! But you have to allow the teachers to get them in line when they are disruptive right at that moment. Not allowing teachers to discipline your child is a BIG MISTAKE.

GOOD POST!!!

I've never been paddled in school, BUT the option was there so it always stayed in the back of my mind.

Coupled with the fact that the exact replica of James Evans was a strong entity in my home...:uhoh:

Goddamn! Thank God there are other teachers who recognize the bullshat we deal with daily.

These new parents with this "let me discipline my child" BS. Teach 'em at home if they can't behave in school.

The worst thing about where I am now is that there are no phones in the classrooms.

Soooooooo

I keep some clorox wipes handy and my cell phone bill PAID! I don't give a DAYUM about using my minutes to rectify YOUR behavior! And I'm quick to say, "Oh, well, yes, we're in class right now, but there aren't phones in classrooms. I'm calling from MY cell phone because I felt STRONGLY that this issue needed to be addressed POST HASTE!"

You want some theatrics? Listen to me on the phone when I'm talking to a parent during the day!

You do that for job security issues right?? Girl you GOOD!!!!

Then when they get home NOTHING HAPPENS because mom could not deal with it right then because she either has to get her nails done, hair done, smoke a BLUNT, or has to chase down some niggum. In a nutshell NOTHING HAPPENS WHEN THEY GET HOME...

PRICELESS I know your arse be cutting up!! lol

I have no problem w/this what-so-ever. I've already signed all the forms and spoken to the teachers and principals. I have told them to deal w/my child accordingly, should he get out of line, while at school...and, they already KNOW that I will deal w/him accordingly, at the crib.

I'm old-school...I don't play w/no damn kids. A child should remain in a child's place. I have no problems beating ass. The Good Book tells you to train up a child in the way he/she should go, so when they're older, they won't depart from it. Spare the rod, spoil the child.

That devil is a lie.

My daughter was acting up in Kindergarten. I told my principal, "I need to go see about my baby."

I went to that school, checked her out, took her home, WHUPPED THAT TAIL SOME GOOD, took her back to school, and went back to work.

THAT was about the LAST time we heard from that school about her ...

I think if my kids had to choose between calling me and taking some swats with a paddle, all THREE of them would put their hands on the wall and make it do what it do ...

GUD, how has your experience teaching in TX been different that than Maryland? Were the student worse in Maryland?

Exactly...Devin would much rather the principal get at him, than me.
