Olympics : Gabby Douglas

Yeah, I heard that they go to labor camps if they fail...afterall, they are given privileges others don't have...if they don't do well and shine for the country---> hard labor for failure...and maybe families also. What better impetus...?

Hate must love or derive from blue and white. It is so much hate from a particular place that has blue and white on this board. Must be how the blue and white is raised.

I been trying to tell yall

Go head on Gabby...very proud of you. Only people hating are the ones who wish they were as self assured as you & accomplished as you. Very proud of that lil girl. Go USA

I sense a little sensitivity from black folks over this. Doesn't criticism come with athletics. The pussificiation of America continues. I blame Dr. Phil, MTV, Down low ******, and Carl from family matters.

There is a reason that China has more gold medals than us right now.

No one is sensitive. The sad part is the black folks who are focusing on this child's hair are the main ones who net value is less than $50 in life, yet they have over $10K to 20Kworth of clothes and get their hair and nails done every week with 50K of debt. My people, gotta love them.

Cee is the most emotional irrational poster on TSPN...right next to GUD. :emlaugh:

But USA is leading in medals as of this morning..88 to 71 (China) with us having 34 gold and China having 36, tied at 22 silver and we have more bronze.

But yeah...Gabby's on the cover of People Magazine. But then there's another article right next to it about how she does blame her dad for her mom's bankruptcy.

A lot of people are sensitive. Look at the responses in this thread alone. You aren't on facebook but black women were having hissy fits left and right over this issue.

As I pointed out again, when those chinese girls were being called anorexic preteens in 2008, there was no outrage. When that 16 year old chinese girl got accused of doping this year, there was no outrage but one person said something about Gabby's hair and ninjas went crazy.

America has become soft. Very soft.

Those are the same black women that will trash a random sister they see on the street or even some random kids they see on the street but then they are mad b/c folks talking about Gabby's hair...which indeed looked a mess. :emlaugh: As I said in my FB status...she's the BombDiggity.com but keep it real...her hair looked a mess. Does she deserved to be trashed? Naw, of course not...but neither does the fat chick that's working the cash register at Walmart.

Then those same daymn black women and men turned around the next day and trashed the runner with the blue hair that was clowning Lolo. :retard: I'm like, "daymn y'all didn't even take a week to flip-flop"! :lmao:

We so funny and emotional!!

GO GABBY! Damn them folks talking shat about your...hair...HAIR for heaven's sake....Black women get a life...or at least try some shat that requires a sweat every now and then or to get your hair wet...SO Pitiful...

And Blue haired track girl...notice I have no clue to her name...you are GHETTO on WORLDWIDE TV.

I want Gabby to stay in a child's place and not try to comment on her mom's bankruptcy or her dad. It seems like her mother hasn't told her to use two words "No Comment".

yep

nothing but Hate in their hearts man. Girl made history & the only thing they can criticize is her hair...petty and sad.

I think what most people are saying is what the 'haters' focused on...their priorities are jacked up. They can't even realize the magnitude of what the girl accomplished because they feel she 'isn't representing them right'. How can making history (with a style, grace, and charisma) not be considered representing right? Black People (women in general) have a problem seeing a woman with regular girl black looks showing up on TV. If Gabby looked like Dawes it wouldn't even be a problem. I think Gabby exposed a lot of insecurities in people. The girl comes off so confident, so sure of herself at a young age that people had to try to tear that down. It made them uncomfortable. So they focused on the only negative that they could at the time...Her hair. Not even realizing (or caring) how insignificant her hair is in this moment.

This moment in time sums up the very definition of how petty & sad being a 'hater' is.

While I’m team #don’tgiveaf*ckwhatyourhairlookslike, I think it’s interesting that everyone on here looks like a hypocrite.

Defend Gabby’s choice to wear her hair however she feels, but go in over and over on Lebron for…wait for it….the way his hair naturally grows. I don’t know whether it’s because she’s young, female, quiet/likable, or whether it’s because women are more defensive of other women/girls.

So while I agree that the people who have more comments on hair/looks than the actual sports should fornicate themselves with an iron rod, I think it’s interesting that so many people don’t apply the rule across the board. I could go on and on, but basically I just wanted to co-sign SS. It’s hard to find a human being that isn’t a hypocrite. (myself included)

Who from JSU said anything about their hair? We are talking about you bleeding heart liberals having hissy fits because someone supposedly said something about her hair.

What man on here is talking about another dudes hair? They be talking about Lebron's hair?

I never heard that either. This is why women shouldn't watch sports brother. Emotionally, they not cut out for it.

I don't remember anyone on here talking about LBJ's hair either. But around the Internets and on TNT's Inside the NBA, there has been much discussion.

But, I finally got to the bottom of how this whole Gabby Douglas hair thing blew up. Apparently a chick who runs a blog called Sporty Afros wrote a long piece defending Gabby Douglas based off three comments found on her Twitter timeline about the girl's hair.

Here are the three comments:

She needs some gel and a brush…

Someone needs to give her a hair intervention…

She has to “represent”…

That piece was picked up by Jezebel, who then wrote a similar piece defending Gabby Douglas' hair after sifting through Facebook and Twitter looking for negative comments. And then everybody else jumped on board, and caused one of the stupidest controversies in the history of controversies all because one person felt the need to write a 1,000 word blog post in response to what three people said on Twitter about a 16-year-old girl's hair.
