Olympics : Gabby Douglas

Black people are you all happy now...Ya'll have talked about that babies hair...distracted her to the point that she felt she had to defend herself...and lose out on two more medals...SMH!

The sad part is some ***** is happy that she failed instead of saying JOB WELL DONE....I hate us sometimes.

If she earned a medal, then the refrain would have been she stuck it to the haters. But since she didn't fare well, we blame the haters. Interesting.

I'm not going to blame the people on Twitter for allegedly causing Gabby Douglas to not medal after winning the all-around competition. If anything, one can blame the press for making a mountain of a mole hill.

As I said told someone yesterday, if folks on Twitter or elsewhere shouldn't be focusing on Gabby Douglas' hair, why have there been dozens of op-ed pieces and blogs written and comments made in defense of Gabby Douglas' hair, and why has the press been compelled to ask her about it? Isn't that bringing more attention to something that nobody thought should have received attention in the first place?

Nah, I'm not blaming folks on Twitter because folks on that site normally make off the wall comments. It is the reaction to those comments that is disappointing.

DCG, that was dumb on her part really. She shouldn't even have known about those comments. She should take a lesson from Lebron and disconnect from the world until competition is over.

N i double g a's will always be N i double g a's. They aren't happy unless other folks are like them at the bottom.

So now she lost b/c folks were talking about her hair!?? :emlaugh:

Daymn...so what's the excuses for all the other Olympians that lost and nobody talked about their hair?

GTFOH!! :emlaugh:

What she is 16 years old and done more then most have ever accomplished in life. She made it to the big stage and represented her race and country. Gtfo here about her hair.

If she was an adult it would not bother me as much. But she is a child....that's what is annoying to me.

As I told Kendrick on Facebook, I don't think she should have ever known about the comments. I kind of blame the people around her. She should be disconnected from the world right now. Neither her or her mom should have commented to the media either.

I know, right. On the third day of the Olympics, a 16-year-old female Chinese swimmer was basically accused by everybody of doping after winning a gold medal in an event. How did she handle all the criticism? She went out and won another gold medal. LOL

“Other swimmers have won multiple golds, how come they criticize me?â€￾ the 16-year-old swimmer, Ye Shiwen, said Tuesday night after claiming her second gold medal, in the 200-meter individual medley. Asked to explain her success at a young age, she said, “It’s because of our training. We work really hard.â€￾

Honestly, I only knew that folks were talking about her hair because of the folks talking ABOUT the folks who were talking about her hair. I only saw 1 negative comment regarding her hair, and hundreds of comments lashing out against the hair police.

I think the folks who were trying to defend her brought more attention to the issue than the actual perpetrator(s).

Same thing here.

Speaking hours after he had watched his daughter win the 200m individual medley, setting an Olympic record in the process, Mr Ye said speculation over his daughter’s victory had cast a shadow over her spectacular performances in London.

“She called us this morning at 6am after the [200-metre] race. She was not in a good mood,” said Mr Ye, a retired tour guide.

“For one thing, she was very tired from competing and feeling great pressure.

"But most of all the questioning from the western media has made her really [tired and pressured].

"She said this morning that the test result had come out but the media still stuck to the [doping] issue, still asking whether she had taken drugs and saying she could just reply, ‘Yes or no'.

“I told her she could refuse to respond to those habitually arrogant and unreasonable [questions]. [I said:] ‘You don’t need to answer'.

Right!! The main ones trying to criticize folks for talking about her hair are the main ones bringing attention to the fact that her hair looked a mess! :emlaugh:

...and there you have it.

Hate must love or derive from blue and white. It is so much hate from a particular place that has blue and white on this board. Must be how the blue and white is raised.

Ye, the world champion, said Leonard's suggestions were "unfair", but said they hadn't affected her. "I want to thank my coaches, and also my teammates and parents," she said. "They have been supporting me a lot. They are the people who can make me strong and that's why I'm not that affected by outside noise. I also feel they [those criticising her] are biased."

Kendrick, I mentioned those Chinese girls on Facebook and people are quick to say, yeah but they are from China.

Women are emotional. They knew it would bother her. Just look at the post in this thread, emotional. :uhoh:

Pops, they are taught to set their own mothers out for their country. The western world women are different. We have freedom. They on the other hand are taught to live by rules. Country first, then yourself.
Why didn't it bother those chinese girls cee.

Pop China portrayed a certain "image" during the Olympics in 08...those girls are probably getting beat with a bamboo stick while they are practicing to teach them to be immune to outside distractions.
