They affectionaly call her "The Flying Squirrell"

I watched her last night. She was exciting to watch. I almost lost my mind during the uneven bars! :emlaugh:

She qualified :clap: :clap:
 



These are the parents of Gabby's teammate, Aly Raisman, watching Aly perform on the uneven bars (I think).

They showed this last night...HILARIOUS!! :emlaugh:

Plus..what made her stand out is that she so damn good she can make a bad mistake (floor routine) and still make the cut lol

And when she was interview she even stated that she was confident enough that the error she made on the floor exercise would not hurt her that much due to how well she did in the other routines.

She killed it on the other routines, especially the uneven bars. :smh:

Then on the balance beam...they showed her in slow motion when she did the back flip and she just watched the beam the entire flip. Sister girl was FOCUSED!!! :clap:

Classic case of helicopter parents. As for Gabby, AWESOME JOB!!!
 
I would be the same way. You know your child can perform that routine in their sleep, but it is so hard to watch.

She's very good but in reality, she made the cut in part because the other girl made mistakes on 3 different events. Wobble on the beam, almost lost hand stand on uneven bars and stepping out of bounds on floor. She'll probably get individ. goal for UBs and be a key to team goal...hopefully

Well in many cases, the person or team who wins is the one who makes the fewest mistakes. At the end of the day, she outperformed Jordan Wieber in three of the four events, and she outscored Wieber in several events this year and was the top qualifier in the US Olympic trials.
 
Did y'all see the Men's Gymnastics last night!? :smh: they SUCKED after putting up big numbers to qualify.

HOpefully the women won't do the same. Man they choked big time!

Well I know I couldn't do it, didn't she have to beat a ton of people to be where she is now? Congrats to her anyway :read:

No, the reality is the other girl--Jordan--didn't make the cut because she made mistakes on 3 different events. Gabby was better, not an alternate that happened to get a chance because the champ got hurt. They are both champs. But Gabby kicked butt and Jordan didn't. That's life. A new Queen has been crowned. Let us not diminish Gabby's abilities by saying she got it because the other one just happened to mess up. No, Gabby was more competitive, bottom line.

And to underscore all this: Gabby wins all around GOLD!!!!!

CT, you just don't get it. The reality of it all is Gabby won all around gold because the other girls messed up in their performances. :smh::lol:

I know that's right! Gabby earned the right to be on the team when she won the Olympic trials. She got the spot automatically. The rest, including Jordyn, where selected by the coaches/judges to as to who would make up the rest of the team.
