O.K. Tuskegee, Here's Your Big Chance

Troy State University is attempting to schedule Tuskegee to play them in Troy on September 29th, to make up for the game that was cancelled this past weekend.

'Skegee folk have been on this board ranting and raving that they can't get a I-AA team to play them (yes, I know that Troy St. is moving to I-A, but they are still technically a I-AA team).

Well Tuskegee, here's your big chance to prove that you can play with the big boys. Don't pass it up.

What we should do is reschedule our missed conference game with Miles College so we don't end the season with one less conference game than many other SIAC teams and jeapordize our chance to win another conference championship. A game with TSU is interesting, but conference games take precedent over non conference opponents, no matter who they are.

Hey Shelt,

You are saying that not playing Miles may cost your team a title? Things are really sad in Golden Tiger land if that is the case.

Deep inside, you really want Tuskegee to have another undefeated season. Troy State might stick a dagger in that plan.

Media Guy,

Let me explain this clearly so that you will understand.

Last Saturday, All SIAC teams postponed their games. All of those games were against non-conference opponents EXCEPT, the Miles vs. Tuskegee Game. If we don't re schedule this MISSED CONFERENCE GAME, All of the SIAC teams in the SIAC, will have played 7 conference games EXCEPT Miles and Tuskegee, which will only have played 6 conference games. This could make us ineligible for the conference championship because we didn't play the required amount of games. THAT IS MORE IMPORTANT THAN PLAYING TROY STATE. This has nothing to do with the fear of our winning streak ending. This has to do with fulfilling our first season objective, winning the SIAC Championship. surely you can understand that.

Because the NCAA will not allow us to play more than 11 regular season games, we cannot play TSU in our designated off week, and then reschedule Miles later on in the season. That would be 12 games.

With no pun intended, skegee knows that they are not ready for consistent D-1AA comp. 7-4 would be a great season for them on the next level if they are conference affiliated.

Jrock,

This is getting silly. Did you not read and comprehend what I posted about conference games and not playing the required amount of conference games and what could happen if we don't? What are we supposed to do, say "To Hell with you Miles and SIAC, we don't care about winning our own conference championship, We're going to play Troy State instead!" How do you think that would make us look to our own conference mates? I'll tell you how it looks: D@mned Stupid! Why even be in a conference with that type of attitude. Our first season objective is to win our conference, not play non-conference games.

The game against Miles has been rescheduled to Nov. 17th by the way, which is exactly what should have happened.

Where did you read in my post that I did not think you should not play your conference game and play TiSsUe? I just made a statement that you all would be a 7-4 ball club on the next level at best. You may not admit it, but I am quite sure that deep down in side you know this to be true...Geese dont let baggage encumber your intellect....Again, no pun intended

Jrock,

because your posting the statement that we could not compete against D1AA opponents, on this thread suggests that you are saying that we are scared to play Troy State (I wasn't talking about Texas Southern), and for that reason would rather play Miles. If that's not what you're saying, then I don't know why you posted the statement here. By the way I disagree with your sentiment as you well know.

UH! UH! HELL NAW!!
DON'T BE KRAZY SKEGEE. YOU ALL HAVE TO MUCH AT STAKE. I.E. YOUR WINNING STREAK THAT WILL CERTAINLY BE ENDED. AND THE NOTION THAT YOU AREN'T QUITE READY FOR THR BIG LEAGUES. THIS WOULD BE A SERIOUS MISTAKE. LET TROY BEAT UP ON SOME POOR WHITE SCHOOL. THE HORNRTS WENT DOWN THERE TWO YEARS IN A ROW AND FILLED UP THAT DAMN HOLE THAT THEY CALL A DI-AA STADIUM AND THEY HAD THE NEVER TO GET JIGGY AND SAY THAT IT WOULD NOT BENEFIT TYHEM TO PLAY US IN MONTGOMERY.

Please do not conclude that TU's winning streak will be ended if we played Troy State!!!! We believe in the Golden Tigers!!! This is no ordinary D2 football team. When our starting QB went down last year, we did not miss a beat. When our All-American linebacker went down this year, we did not miss a beat. Ladies and gentlemen, quality depth is not a problem at TU.

Please explain how wanting to be eligible to win your conference championship is chickening out?

Instead of worrying about us playing Troy State, you need to worry about keeping us from making it 5 wins out of the past 6 years on Thanksgiving.

You are truly reaching. Your imagination is running away on all counts. Bottom Line: Your program is not on Troy State level, 1-AA level and it is a smart move to play Miles in addition to playing on the D-2 level as that is skegee's grade and speed.

The bottom line is: Tuskegee finished as the #1 HBCU football program in the nation in 2000. They have not lost a football game since 1999 and they are well on their way toward running the table again. A man who lives, not by what he loves but what he hates, is a sick man. Hatred is self-punishment.

You are delusional. No one hates skegee. The truth has nothing to do with hatred. At best your ball club brough up the lower end of HBCU'S top 10 and that is because of a soft schedule.

You all would have never beat last year: FAMU, BCC, Hampton,
Gram, AAMU, S.U.,JSU, NCA&T.

whatever you say Jrock. Even though BCC defeated MBC, SSU, and JCSU last year by a combined score of 31-15 while we beat those same opponents by a combined score of 92-9, we would have never beaten BCC. Even though we beat a team that SU lost to last year, there's no way we could have beaten SU. Even though our players are just as big, strong and fast as the players at those schools you mentioned, we could never hope to beat them. Whatever are we thinking?

Why do people use that "we can beat you because we beat a team that beat you" mentality. That doesnt mean ANYTHING. Troy St dropped over 60 on Alabama St and barely beat AAMU. So using your logic AAMU was suppose to DESTROY ASU last year. The same year AAMU beat TU 54-0, AAMU and TU barely beat ASU. You have to look at it as US against THEM not Us against who they played against. ASU defeated JSU and SU soundly. AAMU lost to both of them, and we all see what happenned in the Magic City Classic.

Dahill,

Read carefully. Jrock says that we would have NEVER beaten SU last year. My saying that we beat a team that they lost to is meant to suggest that we could have beaten SU. I did not say that us beating a team that SU lost to proves that we would have definitely beaten SU. JROCK says that we can't compete with the so called "Big Boys' of BCF. Evidence suggests otherwise.

Shelt,
What evidence. I think the argument started (not just this one, but many) because you don't have any evidence. You didn't play any of the "Big Boys".

The years Tuskegee beat Bama State didn't count because Ron Dickerson was the coach at ASU, and everyone new the last fews years that ASU didn't have a defense. Tuskegee was lucky because of ASU's lack of defense. This year Skegee will have one loss (Bama State).

HornetSwarm,

That's silly. Now I can say that the years that ASU beat us before Comegy arrived in '96 (9 wins in a row for ASU) didn't count because Comegy wasn't there. Those years ASU was lucky. How silly does that sound? Who's fault is it that ASU's defense was pitiful? Not ours. Who's fault was it that ASU rushed for -29 yards against TU last year? Well now that I think of it I guess we can take some of the blame for that. We blocked 2 punts, one field goal, and an extra point. If we hadn't of blown 2 scoring opportunities inside the redzone, the score would have been worser, but we won by Luck? Look for more of the same come Thanksgiving.

Jag4life,

We didn't play any of the so called Big Boys? Exactly. That has been my argument all along for saying that you can't say (like JROCK did) that we would have NEVER beaten the so called big boys. There have not been enough games between top D2 teams and top D1AA teams to assume like many of you do that the D1AA team would always win, or even win most of the time in a matchup. I posted the "evidence" in reply to JROCK's suggestion if you had bothered to read it. One was a 3 game comparison between BCC (a team JROCK says we would never have beaten last year) and TU. I'll post it again (like I've done many times with no direct answers from you people).

BCC defeats MBC, SSU, and JCSU last year by a combined score of 31-15. TU defeats those same teams last year by a combined score of 92-9. (Any comment on that one folks?) That's just one piece of "evidence" The other piece of evidence (that TU beat a team that SU, another team that JROCK says we would have never beaten, lost to) while statistically insignificant, suggests that it's silly to assume that TU would never have beaten SU. The fact that TU has rosters the same size as most D1AA clubs with guys just as big, fast and talented is more "evidence". Is there direct evidence, as in head to head? No. That doesn't mean there is no evidence. My contention all along has been that the talent level difference between the top D2 and the top D1AA schools is negligible. I have never said during these debates on various threads that TU would definitely beat the Top D1AA teams, but neither have I conceeded that we would definitely Lose to the top D1AA schools like you guys think. We have too much talent.
