Although I agree with you...we all have to acknowledge
that by them simply being there at all it's advancement.
You don't have to agree with someone to acknowledge their
accomplishments.

I voted today... :tup:

This weekend I took a bus of students to Tallahassee to work on the Kerry/Edwards campaign. On Sunday there was an early vote rally.... It was over 5,000 people out there and MANY of them in line to vote were young black MEN...

It was beautiful to see the sea of young people out there waiting to vote. I was so overwhelmed, I was full....
 
I voted yesterday, and my experience was smooth sailing....I waited in line for a few minutes, then used the touch-screen to place my votes. :tup:
 
For those of you EARLY voters....

Here's an interesting little tidbit.......

Early Voting Wins Elections

Personally, I like walking into the polling place on the day of the election.
Inhaling the old school or church scent, smiling and the smug republicans,
signing my name, and going into a closed booth to do my civic duty(of-
course I left that booth behind in Louisiana, here in Texas you barely get a
partisan :smh: ). I always think about how many of our people wished they
could just walk into a polling place and vote.....but then I have some
unresolved militant issues, so that's just me. This year will be especially
sweet. :swink:

 
After this election we still need to educate our sis and bros on the importance in voting. You know a lot of students still do not get the complete understanding of the system. I even had a guy that takes class with me ask can he just go vote. This guy has been misinformed. He didn't know that there was a cut-off period to register. Oh and the electoral vote. Stupid as HE!!.
 



In Georgia they have have over 70,000 advance votes and that is not even including fulton county... :tup: I am feeling good about this.
 
I voted today. I also picked up a friend's kids so she could go vote with me. We waited 2 hrs in line but the actual voting was fast and easy. At one point one of the kids asked if standing in line for a long time is how you vote. We explained that it was a very important right they will have when they turn 18...and if I ever find out they didn't vote we would be very disappointed.
 
I voted today and was astonished that I was about number 40 in line. Folks are really getting out to vote in this election. Before today, I was able to walk through early voting in a matter of minutes. There were two people turned away while I was there because they had not voted in over four years and needed to register again. That was news to me, but I feel badly for those who won't be able to participate in this election because of being dropped from the rolls.
 
I voted today in Pasadena, TX.

My experience was that it was very easy to vote. There were only two lines with about 6 deep in each line. Makayla and I voted. The computer voting was very easy although, I thought I was supposed to vote on this Proposition 1 or 2...and it was not on my ballot. Maybe it is because I am in Harris County, but not the City of Houston.
