It's a beautiful day in the neighborhood and beautiful day for a neighbor.........

Hubby and I waited for over an hour to vote this morning.
This marks the first time I've ever had to wait to vote. It was great! :nod2:

I liked the eSlate system. It will make voting easier for alot of people.
It certainly beats the hell out of those ballots w/hole punchers. :rolleyes:

As a once proud Democrat I am almost ashamed to admit that I used to be one. I knew the Democratic party had lost it's mind when it chose "Ultra Liberal" Nancy Pelosi over "Moderate" Harold Ford as Minority speaker of the House.

The Kooks like George Soros, Micheal Moore and Al Franken have soured this party. It's a shame that they can't even field a candidate that reaches out to the Heartland of America. Bill Clinton could, because he ran as a moderate and governed as a moderate.

Man, let me check on my Democratic buddies this morning. I think the pharmacies are going to run out of Prozac now.

The Bush supporters are more concerned with being able to tell folks what to do with their own lives, and keeping shotguns and rifles, than what is really important to the nation as a whole. The sad part about it is that most people who consider themselves Republicans are poor rural whites. They vote for anybody that they assume will kill social programs, when they actually benefit from them more than any minorities will any day. :smh: No one likes carrying a sponge, but without social programs crime rates will go up. People are going to result to what's easier and that is crime.

WTF??

We lost the election on SOCIAL ISSUES.... GAY MARRIAGE and ABORTION. And for all your yelling what are you personaly doing to make a change? With-in the last 24 hours I have had more people call me pissed off at Kerry and the Dem... But the main ones yelling don't do **** but yell.


Having looked at the numbers there was a 16.5% increase in voting for ages 18-29, who voted 58 % for Kerry. There was a 23.6% increase in voting for Blacks , who voted 86 % for Kerry.

The cut and dry of it is that people voted on social issues and not on real issues. 89 % of ALL the people who voted stated that they felt that Kerry was the smarter of the two.


I am and will continue to be a part of this party and will help it grow and make a difference. This election only made me want to work harder.

We need to consider this. Almost half of the voters did not vote for Bush. There is no mandate. For the dems to win the south, they must campaign there first.

I do not know about you. But I did not understand that post. Understand that the vast majority of Bush's votes came from Whites. About 89-90% of Blacks did not vote for him. Maybe some people only like winners-even when members of the party that won are descendants of the old dixicrats.

Anyway, the dems, especially its leaders, need to support traditional democratic issues. Most Americans agree with a women's right to choose, more funding for public education, a clean environment and for everyone to have access (namely funding) to adequate healthcare. These are issues that dems support. Yet, they lost. Why? Maybe it is in their campaigning.

Consider this. Jimmy Carter ran about four grass roots campaigns against the establishment. They were for state senator, governor twice (He lost in '66.) and president in '76. Yet, how many of the presidential candidates this year outside Howard Dean asked for his advice? I cannot think of any. How many in the DNC asked for his advice? I cannot think of any.

Maynard Jackson ran a grass roots campaign for the senate and then for Mayor of Atlanta. In Georgia the republicans used the democratic playbook for running grass roots campaigns, and it has worked very well.

On Iraq democrats across the country are most overwhelmingly against the war. Yet, its leaders in Congress outside of Pelosi voted for the resolution. When it was shown that the claims against Iraq were false, where were those leaders? Outside of their saying that the war was fought wrong, I did not hear from them.

Speaking of Iraq and morality, I hear about moral issues in the election aftermath. Well, consider these. The claims about Saddam trying the minerals from Niger, the union of Al Qaida and Saddam, Iraqi possession of WMDs, and the Iraqi connection to 9/11 have not been proven true. So where is the administration's morality in this? Are not distortions considered immoral? Someone help me.

Anyway, the dems failed to try to make Bush pay. What they need to understand is that politics is a contact sport. The republicans, who like a good fight, do.

Someone needs to get rid of the DLC. They are only good in writing concession speeches. It is not Michael Moore's fault. Let's get real. Can anyone prove anything in Fahrenheit 9/11 that is false? The fault of the loss lies with Terry McAuliffe, the DNC and the republican lite Democratic Leadership Council. Of course I cannot forget the sorry media in this country.

Lets look at reality. Today, the Democratic party is look upon as the party of Hollyweird, pro-welfare, pro-abortion, Al Frankin, Jesse Jackson, The Clintons, Ted Kennedy, and Micheal Moore. The extreme left has given the Democratic party a bad name. Most people in this country can not identify with that group. Also, little has been said that there has been a slight increase in Black Republicans or blacks voting republican. Republicans traditonally are known to hate taxes and big government (although I admit they don't always follow through in some cases). Many people in this country feel the same way about those issues. People who have little to no faith at all tend to vote Democrat. They are outnumbered by the moral majority.

I voted for Bush because I wanted this man to finish what he started. Also, I just didn't feel comfortable about giving the Office of the Presidency to John Kerry. I think the Democrats really screwed up when they chose him as their presidential candidate. Even if Kerry was elected, it would be a grave mistake to so call "pull the troops" at one time which I doubt he would have done anyway. Kerry's record leaves me to believe is a very weak on defense and that is not the way to go when you have fanatical religious nuts out there would want to kill every single American they see. Bush is far from perfect, but I felt he was the lesser of two evils in this case. Another thing that turned me off of the Democrats is that they used way too many lies to get votes from uneducated voters. For example, even right now you have people who still believe that Bush wants to bring back the draft. I have even heard nonsense like Bush wants to bring back Jim Crow, etc.

KB, I am glad the election is over. Congrats on your man winning. However, I wonder where you are getting your info from. Do you honestly believe the former JCSs would have endorsed Kerry if they thought he would not use military force to protect this country??? The repubs said the same thing about Clinton. Your comments above indicate that you are opposed to a military draft and taxes. However, you support staying the course (Iraqi quagmire). How do you proposed doing so? It's going to cost buddy. Maybe we can support it by borrowing more money and leting our kids and grand kids worry about paying it off. I don't choose political parties because of it's leadership. My choice is based on philosophy. If you don't have a problem with conservative leaders on the far right fringes, then I will stick to Ted Kennedy and Barack Obama. :swink:

Hillary running is overblown, IMO. She won't run and she shouldn't; she would never win. She's a lightning rod for a lot of folks and they would come out just to vote against her. Plus, this country still isn't ready to elect a woman president

You are right. The extreme right will come out in droves just to make sure she will not get into office, but then again, she may be the only person that might "rallie the troops" in the Democratic party.

Well, I don't care for the war, but we are in this mess now. Bush needed to finish what he started. If after these four years I feel that Bush made a mistake, then I will admit it.

I actually like Barack Obama. If the Democrats invest more time into quality people like him instead of the Micheal Moores and/or a senator with no real track record of changing his mind on a issue based on taking a poll, then I think you will see a change at the next election.
