2 International Airports vs. Birmingham Municipal
Texans, Astros, Rockets, Dynamo vs. Blackhawks, Barrons, Vulcans, Hammers
etc., etc, etc.
Not personal, just business and better for the conference. Where do you think member presidents, AD's, student/athletes, etc. would rather go for media day...Houston or Birmingham? Where could you attract more high profile alum and stars...Houston or Birmingham? Where can you attract more sponsorship $$$ Houston's energy sector or Birmingham's metal works? Where are/were the championships for football and basketball (top earners)..Houston, just makes plain business sense something a real commissioner would have done a long time ago. It's going to happen. My school and my conference would be much better, so yes I would somewhat personally benefit and so would you. That's just the real.

You do realize that jumping into that high of a media market could mean even less coverage, right? There is a lot more to cover in Houston than Bham. Channel 11/etc has to cover the Texans, Rockets, Aggies, Longhorns, Astros, and Texas HS Football. SWAC Media Day wont get a passing mention lol
Sponsorship is mostly based on value to a sponsor than proximity to a sponsor.
It would be smarter to move the office to Memphis, Shreveport or Little Rock. Easier to travel to a Houston/Dallas/N.O. with more news coverage due to a smaller media market. Those cities would also be more appreciative of our presence than a large metropolitan area.
The only real value Houston adds is making conference HQ job opportunities more attractive to quality talent. But they still have to be paid.
IMO, the SWAC office has bigger fish to fry than moving conference HQ. The "move HQ to Houston" is more of an emotional desire than a practical need, just like moving the championships was.

SWAC Media Day is scheduled mid-July every year so there is no Texans, Rockets, Aggies, Longhorns or HS football being mentioned on the news just Astros baseball that time of year.
Your next defense is TSU doesn't get any mention and I have a response but I'll wait for your comment first.

I have no "inside information" related to the proposed move to Houston. I have no problem in saying "I don't know." And I'm not going to make up reasons (like some folks I know do) to give people the impression that they think I know. What I can tell you - with certainty - is that the move to Houston (if it happens) isn't about media coverage.
