If SMD isn't already covered by Bham/Alabama media, what magic juice does moving to Houston do?

Like Kenn said, the media talking point is bunk. So provide the TRUE reasons why moving it to Houston makes the conference stronger.

I'm not the one advocating to move it to Houston. I'm just pointing holes in your scenario of getting no new coverage for that day because they have all those other events to cover that day.

In my opinion that is a step down given how comfortable a position he is in right now. Who wants to answer to ten presidents comprised of individuals that have competing interest, little interest or no interest in athletics at all?

The budget is small and there is very little reason to think it will increase.

The office is bush league, every year there is something regarding eligibility as it pertains to championships and tournament participation that should not be happening.

I ran across an old copy, 2008-2009, of the bylaws a couple of days ago, and if those same bylaws are being used now it is no wonder we're in the shape we find ourselves in.

More of a reason to get someone knowledgeable and hard-working (a mover/shaker) to help us right this broken ship. The SWAC front-office needs a turnaround and who is more prepared than... one of our own, produced by one of our own.

Poach some from the SIAC office who has them on the right track (DEBT FREE, giving former pro athletes their first jobs as a training ground, etc.). Their commissioner just got a 5 year extension so you might have to get the next person up

IF we wanted the SIAC commissioner, we should be able to get him. Didnt we do that once before?
 
As a Texas Southern Alum and a native Birminghamian I have perspective that few of you do. Houston is a very large metro area with two prominent SWAC universities in the area. The Corporate community is 4 times the size of Birmingham. Even in July with just the Astros playing regular season ball the 5 minutes dedicated to sports on the news goes to most things not TSU of PV. The HBCU base population (black) is estimated at close to 1.6M in the metro and many of them have never been on the campus or would have to gps directions to get there. So the question is why is that? The answer is interest. Take the 17k students that attend those SWAC local universities and guage interest of the SWAC. On an average Saturday night football or basketball game how many attendees at both stadiums? (LOW) The local news stations will scroll a score across the bottom of of the screen and throw in a feature every once in a while. San Jac and HBU get the same coverage. By interest leave the office in Bham. By location maybe New Orleans or Jackson. Houston has gotten no better response to the Championship games than anywhere else but atleast they tried.
