Yeap, we could become the new Missouri Valley Conference. lol
Only if we make a effort to improve the RPI... Some of these 13 seeds im sure are not better then SU but their leagues dont play cup cakes and top 25 for OOC

Also, Da Boot really proud of SU and your cuzzin from the norf ain't got nothing but love for ya. Way to represent Jags.

Of course it does, but having 3-4 solid teams is a good start. Those other conferences had to start somewhere.

I understand those games are played for financial reasons, which is sorta Catch-22.

I noticed that the SWAC actually did pretty well against the Sun Belt this year. But I also discovered that almost all of the SWAC's D1 wins were against the SWAC. Southern had three, including an impressive win at Texas A&M. Playing more mid-majors and winning those games will help. It would help the SWAC stay out of the First Four and away from the No.1 and No. 2 seeds in the tournament.

It will be a Long time before another Jag Team will ever see a 16. Gtech and Now Gonzaga. Other SWAC teams may, But SU will never seed 16 again.

Mayne...what a game...

Next year class will be a beast I'm hearing lol...

Shat's bout to get real...I wouldn't mind seeing the Zags back on the schedule

Zags has to be the most over-rated #1 team in history lol...take away those lucky 3's and that miss foul call at the end on our PG driving to the lane...UPSET city

SU played a great game. Was really hoping they pulled it off. Thats why its called March Madness cause Gonzaga was scared than a mugg!!!!

Wow, Gonzaga fans doing a lot of moanin' and groaning' about the officiating! I saw more moving screens in one game than I can ever recall. They can't accept that fact that their team might not be "all that and a bag of chips". :emlaugh:

they are saying that beltran flopped all day. they say that he kicks his legs out when he shoots. those people are crazy i have seen vets in the nba pull those same kind of moves (reggie miller). then they were saying that southern was too physical and that they should have shoot more free throws. man they are SOFTEST #1 ive seen in my life! if they thought that we were physical just wait untill they play their next opponent whicita state is just if not more physical than us.

Even though ya'll came up a little short, that was a very good game SU.
Way to represent. They can moan and groan about officiating all they want. Ya'll held people to a very low scoring average all year and Zaga got the same treatment.

+1 Very proud of what I saw from SU. That was a great showing considering you were the second best team in the swac this year. lol

Congrats For Real!!!! Can't wait til next season.

That's a reason why a lot of people don't even got them reaching the Elite 8. Pablo Torres went out on a limb and picked SU to win on ATH and almost got proven right.

Fugg those Zags, the refs bailed them out in the end if you ask me, they REALLY should have lost that game. Good job anyway Jags.

I'm just tired of these close calls I am ready for somebody to break through, thought we would last year but we choked in the 1st round game, and hoped SU could pull it off yesterday. It was the perfect storm because Gonzaga was probably the weakest #1 that there has been in a while.

P.S. I hope whoever wins out of the SWAC next year can beat some out of conference folks and stay out of that 16 hole, because WE ALL KNOW KENTUCKY is gone be LOADED next year.

Co Sign! There were a few blown calls. Especially towards the end of the game when #5 got hacked going to the basket.

I know everyone is now wondering after Southern nearly upset Gonzaga, can the Jaguars make it back to the tournament. Well, going back and examining the No. 16 seeds that have come the closet to beating No. 1 (Holy Cross, Princeton, Western Carolina, Eastern Tennessee State, Murray State and UNC-Ashville) only two of those schools didn't make the tournament the following season.

In fact, four of those schools improved their seeding. Princeton, who lost to No. 1 seed Georgetown by 1 in 1990, was a No. 8 seed when they entered the field in 1991. So, Southern should be the odds on favorite to return.

I haven't seen rosters with classifications but don't think one can sleep on Texas Southern and UAPB. I am told that Southern has a couple of beast that had to sit out this year though....We'll see!

Yeah, Texas Southern was 16-2 in league play this year.

The only trepidation I have for Southern is the dreaded conference tournament that took out a great Norfolk State team this year after the Spartans had a tremendous regular season.

sTu folks, can y'all help me out on this: Omar, Sturdivant and a couple other key players are gone after this season, correct?
I think a couple other key guys from UAPB are gone also.

We lose Beltran, Grace, Bol and Moore. Chris Hyder is more than likely going to be the starting PG, Miller probably at the 2 or 3, and Mitchell will be back at the 4. Plus, we have some transfers that will suit up next season to fill those other voids.

Kendrick,

Yeah mane, I'm not afraid of the NCAA Tournament. I'm more afraid of the conference tournament. There are more land mines in the conference tournament than a Cambodian pasture.

Congrats to SU......great job against the Zags. But repeating is hard to discuss now. No doubt they will have a great team returning, but when you only get one team in the dance from a conference, then its all up in the air once the conference tournament starts. Take PV for example. We were mediocre, at best, the whole season........got hot in the tournament.......and were two points away from getting the automatic bid. If the SWAC got at-large bids on the regular, then sure, I would look forward to SU being back. But if I was a betting man, I would take the field. Just sayin.........
