NBA Playoffs (cont'd)

Yeah Boston won 10 games in the west. How man would they win in the playoffs. Many different circumstances take place during the regular season that affect games. The playoffs show what you are made up. So far LA is 8-2 in these playoffs and the celtics are on game #14....In the East...

1. Boston was 25-5 against the West in the regular season.

2. Yes, the playoffs are a totally different animal than the regular season. I was having this agument with folks on the MEAC board about Boston being an inexperienced playoff team and posters just did not get it. Yes, Allen, KG and Pierce and Posey and Cassell have been to the playoffs, but as whole the group has not been there together. Especially with the expectation of winning the NBA title.

Not even Doc Rivers has ever coached a team with that much talent on it. You see how uncomposed he acts on the sidelines with is twirling and yelling and fist pumping. There is so much pressure on him to win this team this year.

I'm not a Lakers fan by any means, but I respect Phil Jackson. He seems like he is always under control. The only time he gets upset is when the Lakers are not playing up to their expectations. LA has been through it before together and has a coach who as been as well. That is why the Lakers are playing so well.

I love the way you avoided the topic at hand...which means you dont have a way to back up all that crap posted last week and this week. the way you focused in the word contradictory and diverted it to something about Laker fans was classic Mighty Hornet of you. You also never answered the question about why the Cavs are playing at 3 PM instead of 7PM. You said last week that the Lakers were not playing in prime time and Spurs were. But if you cant back up your statements today, I certainly understand why. You could at least admit that you are wrong though

The Lakers did not not play in prime time and the Spurs did. 3 PM Eastern or 1 PM on the West Coast is not prime time TV hours. 7 PM is. I don't know why hard is it for you to understand that.

Dude prime Sunday Sports TV time is 3PM Eastern.

No it's not. Prime time TV is not 3 p.m. for sports or anything else. How can it be prime time at 3 p.m. when it would be noon on the West Coast? Noon is not prime time.

On Sundays, prime time begins at 7 p.m. Eastern and Pacific and 6 p.m. Central and Mountain, ending at the same time as on the other six days of the week.

wow...this is sad. some people just won't give it up. maybe if somebody white told him he would believe it.

Quiza si usted fue no tan maldice lleno de usted mismo, las personas no tendrian que explicar algo tan sencillo como tiempo a su extremo inseguro ignorante!

Just ended 5-10 minutes ago

Cavs- 92
Celtics- 97

LeBron and Co. is gone fishin' right now as I type.

I hope the Spurs/Hornets Game 7 is a good one.

get ready wanted the cavs to win since the lakers match up much better with them but lebrons ghetto behavior should not be rewarded with a trip to the finals. I'm happy they lost. now maybe lebron can go home and think about what he did to his poor mother. that was too sad

Some folks are clueless and don't know it.:smh:

If it's not prime time, then how did the Lakers/Utah Sunday game get the highest rating thus far in the entire playoffs? I guess it was a fluke that millions of folks just happened to tune in to that one game on THAT particular day at THAT particular time.:noidea:

Prime time has nothing to do with how many people are watching the games. All prime time consists of is the hours the games are played. Last Sunday's game started at noon on the West Coast. Last time I checked, prime time is not in the middle of the day. Maybe I have to break it down so even Kobe fans can understand.

Look, here are some NFL prime time games for the 2008 season. I want you to notice the time.

http://awfulannouncing.blogspot.com/2008/04/look-into-nfls-primetime-schedules.html

Monday, Sept. 8- Minnesota Vikings at Green Bay Packers 7 p.m.
Sunday, Sept. 7 - Chicago Bears at Indianapolis Colts 8:15 p.m.
Thursday, Nov. 13- New York Jets at New England Patriots 8:15 p.m.

There is no such thing as a prime time game starting at 3 p.m. Prime time TV hours start at 6 p.m. Any TV director/producer knows that.

ABC has always shown it's best BASKETBALL games at or around 2:30pm central standard time. If this is not true, why did the Boston and Cleveland came start at 2:30pm central standard time today? Why didn't they start the game at 7pm IF that was prime time for basketball? They didn't do it for a reason.

As far as the NFL, you're comparing apples to oranges when you compare the NFL to the NBA. The NFL shows games primarily on one day, and that's Sunday, between noon and 6 central standard time. Sunday night games are not premiere games. They're more like add on games, which are not all that good to begin with.
The games you listed are not premier games. The Bears versus Colts is not a premier game, neither is the Jets versus New England and certainly not the Vikings and Green Bay Packers.

It may be the best basketball game that day, but it's still not Primetime.

Wikipedia said:
In the United States, the hours traditionally taken as constituting prime time are 8:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. Eastern and Pacific and 7:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. Central and Mountain Monday?Saturday.

On Sundays, prime time begins an hour earlier, at 7:00 p.m. Eastern and Pacific and 6:00 p.m. Central and Mountain, ending at the same time as on the other six days of the week. Note that for cable networks, such as USA, TBS, and ABC Family, prime time is 8:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. all seven days of the week.

With the addition of newer networks such as FOX, The CW, and MyNetworkTV, they're now considered a common prime separate from traditional prime. Common prime is 8:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. Eastern and Pacific and 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Central and Mountain Monday?Saturday, beginning an hour earlier on Sundays as with traditional prime. (The CW does not have Saturday programs in prime time, and MyNetworkTV does not have Sunday programs.)

Before the FCC regulated time slots prior to prime time with the now-defunct Prime Time Access Rule in the early 1970s, networks began programming at 7:30 on weeknights. For a historical look at prime time, see History of TV Prime Time.

Here you go.

No, no, no, no. Primetime has nothing to do with who is playing, how many people are watching or the importance of the game.

All that matters is the HOUR OF THE DAY that the game is played. That is what makes the game prime time. I don't know how more simple I can put it.

According to wikipedia the definition of prime time is:

The hours traditionally taken as constituting prime time are 8:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. Eastern and Pacific and 7:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. Central and Mountain Monday?Sunday.

Primetime is a TIME SLOT. It is not the prime game of the league for that week.

That is what I've been trying to say the whole time.

I'll use baseball as an example. Sunday, Wednesday and Monday Night Baseball are primetime TV games because they are played at night.

Fox Saturday Baseball--even though broadcast nationally--are not primetime TV games because they are played in the afternoon.

That's the difference.

The Lakers/Jazz game was not a primetime game because it was played in the day. The Spurs/Hornets was primetime because it was played at night. That does not mean one game was more important than the other. All it means is the HOUR the game was played.

Dude, you're talking about prime time for dramas and TV shows.
I'm talking about prime time for the NBA. Name ONE game that consistently comes on ABC at night on a weekly basis.

The NBA schedules it's games where most people are more likely to watch that particular sport. Sports don't usually rival shows and sitcoms at night any way. Prime time for sports is mostly in the afternoon.

1. Regular season NBA games are always up against TV shows and sitcoms. It's been that way for the last 20 years.

MLB does the same thing and the NHL. The Yankees and Mets are up against Desperate Housewives and the CBS Sunday lineup right now. TNT has Thursday games go up against the NBC and ABC lineup.

2. Yes, leagues do schedule their national TV games when folks are more likely to watch. And that is in primetime. At night.

3. What part of there is no such thing as primetime in the afternoon for sports you don't understand.

There never was and never will be. Yes, an afternoon game might be considered "the Game of the Week" for a particular network, but that does not make it a primetime game when another network has their "Game of the Week" at night.

Even college football does it now. There are games on ESPN/ABC at night like Nebraska-USC last year. That was primetime game because it started at 7 p.m.

Michigan-Ohio State--as big a matchup is that in sports-- was not a primetime game because it started at noon.

All primetime is the hour the games are played. It has nothing to do with the importance or matchup.

You still didn't answer my question. Name one. ABC is several times larger than TNT, but can you name one NBA game that's been played at night on ABC?

Signed,

Waiting...

Will y'all end this petty azz argument. Prime Time is night time. Has been for years. That ain't changed for a basketball game, football game, soap opera or sitcom. First it was prime time. Then it was prime time for sports. Now it's this. Next it'll be that.
