Name the one SWAC environment you hate getting your butt kicked in?

Well I was in Mumford that day and every player and ref on that field hit the ground. I saw them on the ground after I got up from under the seat I was sitting in. It happened. Can't change history.

Anyway, I hate losing in Mumford most of all, because of the smack that's run all game long. You can't talk as much noise as we do, then lose.

Basketball, I gotta say Valley. When they start jingling them keys, it's sickening.

Although losing to Valley is something I have not felt in a LONG time, I do recall the feeling a loss to Valley gives...LOL Beating JSU is all they need to have a good season.

Beleive me TP that is a feeling I wouldn't wish on anyone!!!!

When was this?

Baseball players and officials were on the ground in Birmingham ducking for cover. This has NEVER happened in Mumford Stadium. And I have been at ALMOST every game since 1975.

BTW, tbf, I would agree with you and add for Southernites in football it has to be Jackson State and basketball it is most definitely Alcorn!

He's talking about the 1990 SU-JSU football game at Mumford. Someone starting shooting in the stands and I think someone was shot. Doc made the Jukebox leave before the game was over.

Shooting happened in '96. Same game the team was late, because the team bus brake lines got cut.

I was at Mumford in '90, too. Don't remember a shooting. Maybe I didn't notice for the Shawn Gregory to Jimmy Smith show.

Football environment's don't bother me.

But being a JSU fan, the one place I hate being in if we loose is that Basketball GYM down on the RESERVATION...............Them Injuns.

You can't get away in that place.
You gotta step over the basketball players just to get out with purple pompom dancing in your face.

Yeah, I don't recall anyone shooting/fighting for TSU/PVU @ Rice. You must've been @ Rice university in some other part of Texas JR. I was @ that game and stayed until the final gun sounded. Entered w/out a hitch and left w/out a hitch.

Ditto for the state fair classics. I did miss one year and that one year is when some bullsh!t negro(es) attempted to rile up each crowd and had everybody in the stands rushing onto the football field. From what I recall on tv, it was pandemonium due to gun play. Since then, they've added a ton of security to get people to act like human beings vs the unintelligent monkeys they really want to be. :swink:

This fall, there'll be fighting in the one sole grand stand @ PV between alumni. lol I'm pretty much guaranteeing it. :wavey:

Toughest gyms in the SWAC:

1. Alcorn/ GSU tie
Because they are small it's super tough in these arenas. When you have a capacity crowd in such close quarters it gets super tough on the visiting team. I'll give Grambling the edge as a Jackson State fan, because when we go to Alcorn it's almost 50-50 so it's not as bad as going to little bitty memorial at GSU. I can't wait until they open their new place... spread them n*gg*s OUT. LOL. It will be a much lighter environment for the visitors in their new place.

2. Valley
That sweat box is tough when JSU comes to town. It gets physically hot. lol.

Toughest Stadium:

1. Mumford - The air is THICK with hatred when we go to SU. lol. We expect that though. We return the favor when they bring that arse to Jackson.

2. I'd say Grambling (when Grambling is winning)

Oh yea...

You lose in Memorial and you know what's coming....
"GO HOME ... GO HOME ... GO HOME ... GO HOME"

lemme add.......

football - JSU: that darn go home!!!! / famu: we ready, we ready
basketball - gSU: SU hasn't won there in years.......
baseball - pv/gram:

Also,
In '96, the shots fired were due to some greeks fighting outside the stadium
near the tennis courts. My homie, who went to a non-swac school, and his
frat-bro's were fighting another frat from another school (not jsu nor su).
This fight was a continuation from the nite b4.

In '90, shots were fired in the 4th qtr. of the game,,,, it was a blowout
already. Most people were still there waiting for the 5th qtr. Some dudes
from scotlandville were shooting dice at the top of the stadium(none were
enrolled at su). 1 shot the other and the entire section cleared out in about
4.5 secs.

Yeah there was one in '96 and one in '90 (under the stands on the SU side).

Football/SU

Basketball/The corn. The only consulation prize is that you will see some nice looking sisters and you better be ready to holla. :emlaugh:

This is Easy.........

1) Jackson Memorial Confederate Stadium. :emlaugh:

(obviously I don't like losing the Bayou Classic either)

I have issues losing those two games..........losing to FAMU & Alcorn get under my skin too........Back in the day you would have been able to put Tennessee State on that list......I don't know how our "powers that be" let that rivalry slip away. I used to love to see TNST band come to Mumford and battle the Juke.

They'll be in Mumford 9/22/07

Labor Day Classic 92 was when the riot broke out and the game stopped after players took to the ground...some people say firecrackers was the culprit while others say gunshots....all I know as a 14-year old kid it's not everyday you see a crowd of 1,000 running towards you screaming...

The 96 shooting at SU was during my freshman year.....that whole game was crazy but we saw the fight in the south endzone and the guy shoot the gun in the air...

Was it 92? Dang I thought it was later than that. All I know me some of my frats who had went to SU with me but were H-town natives all rolled up and was all on the field. That isht was crazy. I don't think I had moved so fast in my life. Good thing in 92, I was fresh off of active duty and was still in great shape.

96 was the year I thought it happened at SU. I was sitting right with yall in the Juke when it happened........

I can't wait...........we used to have some battles with the Aristocrats back in the 80s when I marched in the Juke. If they bring the band it will be off the chain in Mumford. Better get my frequent flyer miles ready. LOL.
