You say that as if that win wasn't from a team that went on to win the SWAC Championship Game, and Doug Williams' 5th straight win over Jackson State. Nothing there should have been a surprise or a shocker.
Now, the only Grambling loss that Comegy deserved some criticism was in his first year when he brought his 5-1 JSU squad to Robinson Stadium against a 2-4 GSU team that slapped them around before the game and during the game 36-7. Other than that, Comegy had a 4-7 record against Grambling which is better than most SWAC coaches who have faced the historical winning program.
The man is great recruiter and knows how to bring programs back from the dead. Central State, Tuskegee and JSU have all seen some great days under him. There is no doubt that Valley won't see the same.

Hell, you can do that in the SWAC with a below average QB! LOL.

Comegy not being an offensive-minded coach cost us two games that year. We should have been undefeated in 2011. Comegy was good at JSU but it's the small things that kept Comegy from being great. I've said it before, I think he lost 20 games by less than a TD.

You Jackson State folks are way too hard on a man that had a great record at your school and brought your program back from the dead in one year. His track record shows that he does this everywhere he coaches.
You talk about development, but you don't get 6 division II athletes from Tuskegee drafted in the NFL rounds 2 to 7 if you or your staff lack player development skills. It just doesn't work that way. His first season at Jackson State showed instant progress as far as development. I know how many of ya'll feel about his coaching style, but ya'll aren't on target when talking about developing talent. That's just hating on the man.
I take pride in watching my G-Men beat down Jackson State, but those beatings were totally different when he arrived compared to the pimping sessions we had vs Hughes and Bell. Comegy had Jackson State, to a point to where you had to have your sh_t together to beat them.
Comegy is walking into a program at Valley that is use to losing. However, he has been through it before. He knows the SWAC and knows what it takes to build a talented roster at a small school. I remember watching film from Grambling's 1995 season. Comegy's NAIA Central State team didn't look any different from most of the SWAC teams I watched that season. His Tuskegee squads would have been in plenty SWAC title games had they been in the SWAC. Don't believe me, just ask Alabama State.

I disagree. His record was good but we hired him to be great. Do you think he was great? I didn't think so.
His record was like 55-35. That's not horrible but we needed him to be somewhere closer to 70-20 with AT LEAST 3 SWAC titles in 8 years. We expected him to rival the success of WC Gordon. Instead we got a coach comparable to Big Daddy and Hughes.
