ITTA BENA -- Mississippi Valley State officially released its 2014 football schedule Friday, consisting of 11 games -- including two non-conference matchups to begin the season.

The Delta Devils will kick off its first season under new head coach Rick Comegy on August 30 when they host University of Faith (Fla.) at 4 p.m. at Rice-Totten Stadium. It will mark the first-ever matchup between MVSU and the University of Faith, which competes in the American Small College Athletic Association.

University of Faith?????

i ain't mad at Comegy tho.. Valley does not give full scholarships... and they have NEVER won the SWAC. His focus needs to be on winning seasons and winning the EAST. If he can get 2-3 freebie wins, so what? They need to go ahead and sign Milsaps, Belhaven, or Condordia too. The SWAC provides Valley with enough competition.

..and for those looking for a miracle this year from Comegy .. WAKE up! He won't beat JSU. He barely has a whole team to practice with. They WILL be fired up be Hayes only knows how to coach man defense and our new offense is gonna eat that up!

Some school out of FL in their first year of football.

Mascot: Glory Eagles (Yep a church school lol)

We can't afford to overlook anyone after the Concordia stuff but a 'soft" opener then traveling to ISU to face a decent middle of the road MVC school is a good way to start the season for US before jumping into the SWAC schedule against Alabama State

Gotta watch the news to see if there was any reason giving for the DSU series being cancelled

No that's wrong, I started working in West Memphis, Arkansas back in September (Mid-South Community College) and knew that could not be true. I looked it up and they are a small christian college out of St. Petersburg. Florida. They are not NCAA or NAIA. They are in one of those other athletic associations. Here is a link to their athletics page--> http://www.universityoffaithfl.org/athletics.html

Hit dogs......

Dude, it didn't take a genius to know you were talkin about me. You simply think I have it in for Valley because I think they belong in D2. Look at WSSU... they tried to move to 1-AA and failed yet they are a very successful D2 program. People are suggesting that JSU should be concerned with Valley since Comegy is the coach but JSU fans know better. Now if Valley was D2 with Comegy as the HC, I am not even sure I would want to play Valley.

I really expected two confidence builders to start off the season for Valley. I am a big fan of playing 12 games. I love the fact that Valley is starting the season against Faith, but Valley officials really should have pushed harder to schedule a first year team like Paine College, Limestone College, or even a new program like Wayland Baptist. They could have gotten it on with Savannah State as well.
