That's a Bolivar County thing lol. Bolivar County has SEVEN high schools but has less people than Washington County (which has 4 public high schools and private St. Joe). None of the other Delta counties have more than 3 (Coahoma, Leflore. Issaquena doesn't have one). The only way I disagree with it is if they are only merging Delta counties and not the rest (i.e. you will never hear about West Tallahatchie merging into the Charleston/East Tallahatchie SD. "they" ain't having that)
The state consolidating this smaller/failing districts could alleviate this BUT the state has to fully fund this schools instead of crying broke and trying to merge good school districts into bad ones (like they tried to merge Greenwood into Leflore County before they blocked it)
But There is no need to merge those two schools because its reasonable for them to have two schools in one county. But if you look across the state, there are a lot of county schools and we are at a disadvantage in the delta because we have so many schools and that spreads the talent out tremendously.
