:wavey: @ Legend..........Heyyyyyy!!!!

(since Legend doesn't think I can stay on topic, even though he KNOWS better)

I agree, Grambling is always a threat on the field. You may not like their sound, their style, their shoes, or anything else for that matter, but more often than not, they find a way to put on a show that fans enjoy. SU is the same way. That makes that match up a good one anytime.

PV and GSU has traditionally been that way, but the whole event, IMO, is losing its luster, and fast!!!

SU and JSU always seem to have hotly contested battles, as do SU and FAMU (mainly because of their drastically different styles and concepts of marching band)

You can make an argument for ANY in-state rivalry game, simply because so many of the participants know each other from school or childhood.

I know there are PLENTY others. These are just the ones I have been exposed to.

 O.K.,......
I don't understand your opinion.
I feel there have been some good battles between PV and Grambling. IMO, they are gettin' better. There will always be some things I'm not satisfied with (like yall throwing that jazz on us as soon as we marched in,.....with no counter response) but, it's still a good battle. I don't feel that it's loosing it's luster,.....

Not the battle itself, but the game as a whole. I say that partly because of the general atmosphere of the game.

Well,...I will add that I do not like the way they (security and other officials) treat the bands. As soon as the game is over,....they be rushing us out of the stadium.

That is part of what I'm speaking of. My first time experiencing the SFC was 1997, and the atmosphere surrounding the game was just different. And not just because it was my 1st year. I think this game peaked in 98. Up until then, it constantly gained momentum. After 98, with the exception of 1 year (maybe 2), it just wasn't worth the hype (as a whole).

:shame: I just don't know about you guys. :smh:

One thing is for sure,....some things don't change.

Mr. Kremesaver,

But now what????:jump: :argue2:
My band is still and always will be a threat.
My band has made some outstanding improvements in such a short time. They are gettin' back to their days of glory.
H3ll. even on a bad day, they aren't no one to take lightly.
I still hold firm to my convictions that NO ONE can touch "The World Famed" on the grid!!!
"The World Famed Tiger Marching Band",....I just love that name that we can honestly claim!!!!

Your witness

I will agree, your band is on a come-up but realize this. "The World
Famed Tiger Marching Band"......"ed " Thats past tense in which I gave credit for. I don't blame you for your response because during your era, you guys up-held the tradition!!! Can GSU members of today say the same ...........HELL NAW!!! They suffer way more "L's" than you did in your time. Legend, don't get me wrong, I favor no one band more than the other. I'll call it straight down the middle. But you guys had a higher success rate at GSU compared to the GSU of today!!! So how can the GSU band of SOME of the recent years claim the world Famed when they're not holding it to that standard!!! :shame: Same goes for my first love Alabama State University Mighty Marching Hornets!!! I don't know if you remember or not but when I marched, we were called the "Miracle Band" which was also true in previous years. We even had it on the Cape. The Marching Hornet band of today doesn't carry that logo anymore, and if they did, they can't honestly say that either!!! The vast majority of them don't hold up the reputation. Like Yvette said in a previous post, "...to much of a lack luster attitude..."

:lecture:I can even use my frat for example......How many of you have seen plenty of lame, sorry azz n***as make it to becoming a Kappa and then all of a sudden they think their cool, a pimp, ladies man, suave, etc. Ladies, can yall testify!!! I am no way downing my frat but we have no room for shirt wearers resting on a reputation built by REAL MEN who NATURALLY had the JUICE to earn those titles. I know you feel me on this......same applies to the band.

Your witness.....

this goes to any band, .....Don't rest apon a reputation, build one.....

Well......PVU's band had the reputation "The SWAC's Best Kept Secret". It had it's good points and it's bad points.

I'm glad that I helped in lifting that label off of The Storm though.

 Then you have something to be prod of!!! Cause this guy is right, PVMU ain't a secret anymore. Will pose a threat to anybody in the swac, whether you get caught slippin or on your best day!!! Hats off PV, damn good show in the Honda. Keep up the good work, and the B.O.X. was very entertaining.

 Hey, who are you guys biggest rival???

Ya'll are very, very good! Many people still don't know.

Just to clear up a few things......

1) Legend was correct. Back in the day Skegee/State was a big rivalry. The proximity of them and them both being in the SIAC made it a big deal. Boy Da Bruzzz usta have some good times back then!!

2) State came into the SWAC in '82 as a result of this, I would say the rivalry diminished after that some what and even downgraded.

3) As this went down the AAMU rivalry began and grew more, to what it is today...."The Colored Version of the Iron Bowl" :D j/k folks

4) Yeah Skeegee did have a band back in the day, I'd say their biggest rivalry was with FAMU when FAM was still in the SIAC cuz Dunc was a FAM grad.

5) And Crit, whatever chants Snake knows, they had to come through Eta Eta first, shoot some of them we probably made up!!!!

Just dipping in and dropping a little history to help my confused folks.....

Now back to the topic (and stay on point and leave the newbie alone! ya'll see she from Central)

Danged younginss (and Niters olddddd tail tooo!!!) kekekekekekekekeeee

I wouldn't be surprised one bit! We know that Eta Eta was a strong force and very well-known back in the day.

 Hmmm,.....You're pretty good!!!!
Let me see how I can work this.....

..........,hmmm,.............what can I say to this?????
I got it!!!!!

Let me just say this. As far as the band of today is concerned,......these are different times. I've said this somewhere before and I'm gonna say it again. Bands today do not practice as long and hard as they use to in my time. Society is more complexed and demanding. More output is required with less time for preparation. You can't work today like those bands did back then. Todays world with all it's demands will not allow it.

Also,...the current band is still making their own mark. They are still pressing forward the legacy to places beyond the bands of old. Therefore I pretty much object to your opinion with regards to the present band. :smash:

 Legend, you alright with me. You have a damn good point!!!!

I guess we are at an equilibrium with this...I don't agree to disagree....I agree to agree cause it seems we are on the same page with this!!

:swink: But let me say this, we all made do with a lot more meager facilities and things then they do, and I know their have been many times when you guys had an engagement with little time and still pulled it off!!! You know why the band of our era did it....cause we wanted IT!!! They need to say the same thing......but in a nut shell, GSU ok...with me, Can't wait till the FALL!!!!!

Musta been before I even knew what a "college" was.

That sounds about right.

3) As this went down the AAMU rivalry began and grew more, to what it is today...."The Colored Version of the Iron Bowl" :D j/k folks

You ain't lying........that's EXACTLY how we referred it!! The Black version of the Auburn/Alabama game!!

5) And Crit, whatever chants Snake knows, they had to come through Eta Eta first, shoot some of them we probably made up!!!!

Most of the chants that Snake knows about, including the one I was referring to came from Epsilon Gamma (ASU). :D But I'll let him verify dat, wit his old azz. :D

Heyyyyyyyy Bengal!!! :wavey:
