Mississippi Valley State vs Illinois State: Game Updates - 6:30pm CT

Valley folks really shouldn't take this too hard. Illinois State competes in the toughest conference in the FCS. The Missouri Valley always has about 3 teams that are ranked in the top 25 FCS Poll. This conferences also has one of the best,(if not the best) record vs FBS teams in the past 3 years.

They really really should. They lost to Illinois State, an FCS team that finished 5-6 last year, not illinois. That's a really bad loss. Jus because illinois state plays in a tough conference is no excuse to lay down. Combined with their lackluster performance last week against a club team.....

Well, Comegy treat these games as "preseason" games to get tuned up for the season. He don't care about winning these games. That is why he rotates his QBs.

Karl Morgan would not have allowed somebody to score 66 points on him.

K******w please, a lie don't care who tell it. South Alabama and South Carolina State blew our doors off with Morgan as head coach. Nobody from Valley expected to win this game. We just didn't want anyone to get hurt. Comegy is running into the same thing that previous Valley coaches and other coaches have in finding it difficult to win when you have poor quarterback play. Whenever they find a legit quarterback, then you will see a difference. A lot of young kids are getting thrown into the fire an with that you can expect mistakes.

Well, just expect those mistakes to continue throughout the whole season. That's Comegy football.

Anyone with good sense can understand why Comegy played all his QB's. A good coach plays his players to see who will respond. He knew it was no way they would win this game. So he basically made it a game to see who would step up and respond. Name he has real game experience and film to put his starter in place for SWAC play. Funny how JSU played a practice squad team, but judges everyone else.

Some folks can't tell the difference between "critique" and "judge". Google helps.

Excuses, excuses. There's NO excuse for giving up 9 TD's while not even scoring a field goal.:smh:

I don't think jsu has played a PWC on the FCS level since Dumbbell was the coach. So no they can't talk until they challenge themselves outside the box. And, I am not talking about playing a FBS team so they can have a built in excuse. The truth of the matter is Illinois State would beat the dog shat out of Grambling and jsu too.

16) Illinois State
80) Jackson State
115) Grambling

No they shouldn't. Valley is a rebuilding program and loss to a program who is two years removed from a FCS playoff appearance. So what if Illinois State went 5-6 last season? Many of those losses were against very good opponents. Illinois State is one of the best FCS programs Valley will face this season. They shouldn't take this loss as if they season is over.

Then again, I might be missing a "we are happy Comegy loss and want to kill his excitement" factor by a few posters who really know better.

They would beat everyone in the SWAC.

I really ain't. This is/was basically a defacto money game as some of the Redbirds fans put it.

Other than the QB situation (it's game 3 now. Either start Q like a lot of people expected when he was pushing Ivy or not), we escaped without too many major injuries so that's good.

We should know where we stand with ASU next week and Alcorn after that.

This and the Sagarin rankings got them among the top teams in FCS (being in the MVC along with NDSU only helps).

In basketball terms, we went from playing Tougaloo to playing VCU within one week.

You gotta tune out the white noise

We said it from the start. I listed it three times. QB. QB. QB.

I expect our defense to be OK but if we can get some decent B- QB play to get the ball into the hands of Stafford and the core of talent freshman, we should be OK

Is Gregory the QB coach?

So losing 69-0 is acceptable??!! You seem to be the one whose crazy. Other than someone who don't give a xhitt, what true fan wouldn't be upset if his school couldn't score a field goal and in the process gave up nearly 70 points? I guess some folks have gotten used to giving up 8 and 9 TD's a game. (hint, hint)

You have fans of one wino program that has won 1 championship in 17 years telling another with 0 in 17 years not to drink. :smh:  :emlaugh: Wake me up when the former step out of their comfort zone and play a formidable FCS program outside of the HBCU world.......
