Is it sinful to have lustful thoughts about someone you want to get with? You've never actually been with them but you would like to?

Can we get a definition of "lust?" I agree it is a sin but, how are you to "want" someone without lusting after them?
No need to quote scripture. The reason why I post scriptures is usually somebody ask for it. I.E. Like the Tithe, you wanted scriptures, I gave you scriptures.Originally posted by LadyLuck13
I just knew that one of them was gonna answer with Biblical text by now. They always do.
(don't go gettin' offended either, cause its the truth)

Then what's the answer to the question Dr. Springs & upon what basis was your answer founded? Furthermore, does the bible give a definition of "lust?" If so, please share it.Originally posted by Springs
If anyone thinks that a dictionary and their analysis is the best source for guidance regarding this question then that's your choice.
I did not find one but it has many examples of lust.Originally posted by Fortitude

Lust:
sinful longing; the inward sin which leads to the falling away from God (Rom. 1:21). "Lust, the origin of sin, has its place in the heart, not of necessity, but because it is the centre of all moral forces and impulses and of spiritual activity." In Mark 4:19 "lusts" are objects of desire.
I agree. So, David lusted to kill Uriah so he could have Bathsheba.Originally posted by docmump
Note: Lust has nothing to do with sex by Eastons definition and other definitions listed above. [/B]

What then, would be called the "prompting" to kill Uriah apart from Bathsheba. He "wanted" the man dead and plotted on how to kill him. That's why I said he lusted(using the definition given) or had a strong desire for Uriah to be removed from the picture.Originally posted by docmump

Yes,....but if I may address another angle. Thinking about it is the beginning of lust but,... it's what you do with that thought that can cause you to sin.Originally posted by Butch Wms.

God says it's a sin to lust, period. Spiritual damage is done whether you carry out the physical act or not.Is it sinful to have lustful thoughts about someone you want to get with? You've never actually been with them but you would like to?
