LOL. Yes he is PSI and he is in Detroit. Good ole Huck.......still remember the ole frat house the bruhs lived in close to JSU. Huck and that van. LOL.

Girl, you got a good memory - I had forgotten about that old saying of his. He was in Memphis at one time, wasn't he? Speaking of potential band directors, what about Blake Gaines or Natalie Thompson?

Wouldn't that be a coo? When Taylor stepped down as Band Director, we thought Paul Adams would get the position, Jimmie James wanted someone with a PhD, so he selected Liddell.

The last time I looked, Paul I. Adams had not yet completed his doctorate. Does anyone know better? I would love to have him back a JSU.

As for James Berry, I would say no. Like you said he is in adminstration here at Redan Middle ( I think or something) and I don't believe he is involved with any band at all. So maybe as a teacher or admin. position but not BD.

Ion know about Nat. She may be happy where she is....SLT, verto ya'll heard from Ronnie (Veronica)? SLT, what about Martha?

As for Blake, he's still interested, if everything is right. At least he was this summer. He would make a big push...I'm sure.

I ain't talked to Huck so I don't know where his head is...:lol:

If changes were to occur, I would look for it to be between MaGruder, Blake, Adams and possibly some other outside person.... Right now if I were handicapping (hypothetically of course IMO) Blake would take the Old School and some new people (Haughton & his experience) Adams would take the Taylorites and early Liddels, and MaGruder would take all the rest of the Liddels and some Old Skoolers as well as the admn. probably since his ties to Liddell. Depending on who the outsiders were, they may get some consideration.

Derrick Anthony Chambers is Baby Woo. He was Huckleberry's (Berry Greer) LB. And Wardell's lil (not by much) bro.
 
I think you can almost put it down in stone that Magruder is next. Having that doctorate was a big step forward for him, and now that he is getting actual head band director experience, I think it may be a lock with all the ties he still has down in Jackson. His skills as an arranger don't hurt either. By the time I left his arrangements were just as good, if not better than Adams, and that's saying a whole lot. He'd be a good fit in my opinion. He's a lot more creative and energetic than Liddell and much more of a people's person. I could be wrong, but with the people in charge there now I just think it's almost a lock that Magruder is next.

You know I was just messing with yall. LOL. I knew JB had not been working with any band in a long time.......but he does have a Doctorate. I don't think it is in Music though....... Now I was really playing about ole Huck....:)

I forgot about ole Blake Gaines...hadn't seen him around a college band since he was at Morehouse. Is he at some HS in Atlanta?

I am sure Magruder would be a leading candidate and has closer ties to this JSU administration. Adams only handicap would be being a Southernite........but then Pops Dupplessis was a Southernite too. Even though his reign as the head man didn't last but a year. Shole hate the way the Dowell Taylor situation went down........he was good director. The Boom was on point when my fellow Callaway alum was in charge. Aint that right SLT? :lol:

I talk to Martha all the time. Christal, Martha and I usually take a trip together once a year. :)

Blake would be a very good asset to JSU as the head band director....as would the others..:tup:

I only marched one year under Taylor(84), but I can say he still had the tradition of The Boom on point....:nod:
