JR dont try to explain this all by yourself. Im really not after you. You mostly try to be reasonable. Im really after JRock. He is the one that was doing all that damn bragging about how deep you guys were at RB. Now according to you and the problems you listed above, most of your RBs arent even eligible to play.
Im just merely pointing out that SU has no talent, Pete Richardson cant coach or recruit, he is willing to sacrafice the whole team for one player, and that all that crap your boy was spewing was a damn lie. Now where is he?

JRock is right. Newman and Peoples were great players coming out of NC, they just had to sit out. Newman scored 24 Tds his senior year. They are playing THIS YEAR. All the guys I listed are playing THIS YEAR. Obviously we would have been deep at RB last year is they could have played. That's why SU folks are saying we are deep at RB. Look at how many Rbs we have: 1. Ike 2. Singleton who will be cleared to play here soon, but I am realist he needs time to regain form since he got hurt late last season 3. Tucker 4. Newman 6-2 220(please remember this name) 5. Peoples 6. Holmes 7. Devin Herbert(true freshman) 8. Miller, he might as well switch positions, but he has been improving. And this does not count the Fullbacks. So GR we are deep at the position THIS YEAR is all anyone is saying. We won't have to go search for rbs like we did last year if we have injuries.
So if Pete can't recruit how come we have 6 NC players this year. Just asking.

GR, again why do you think Pete can't recruit. He gets two rbs last year that had outstanding years in NC, but since they did not qualify I am sure the PWCs backed off. But why do you think these kids are no good. Are you saying that Pete didn't recruit All-SWAC OL Gary Jenkins? Or how about Lenny Williams who has started since he was a true freshman and was recruited by 1-A schools. I not following your logic. It's no different than before. Sure we have landed great talents like Wofford(who btw was a non qualifier his first year too.), but who would have been at a 1A school just like Newman and Peoples if he had qualified. So why are you condeming this SU kids before they even hit the field when they come with good HS resumes, no different than the ones you recruited. Oh I get it. Just because you don't research our recruits don't mean they can't play. But I digress, you know all GR, you know all. Every JSU recruit is the ish and SU's are not. Whatever dude, I am through talking. You and I agree to disagree. I would start Ike too if I was Pete if the kid can play and not waste his Sr year. That's why I don't hate on Billy Joe at FAMU. Why even have a kid transfer if you aint going to play him. Especially with one year left. But don't worry when Ike or Newman or whomever we put in the backfield runs around your beloved Elgin Andrews then you will believe. You're on the clock.

Ike hasnt practiced in a while due to heat exhaustion. Why do you think that is? Ill tell you why.
Cause your dumb ass coach soldout the program to him. This is making me sicker. The kid doesnt have a knee or another physical problem....he has heat exhaustion. I dont doubt his sincerity(yes i do).....but do you understand my earlier point? I guess the sun is hotter on him than those 300lb linemen.
What is his motivation to practice? He doesnt have one. Since he was GIVEN the starting job, all he has to do now is wait for the season to start and jump in there. This kid is not working as hard as the other players to get a job. If Pete had just waited to name him the starter, he wouldnt be having this problem. Im sure you will say something like, "Pete will yank him, or Pete can start someone else." Certainly he can, but the damage is done.
This was simply not fair and Pete should have handled this better. But I digress.......
Ill let SU handle their business the way you see fit. Its not like dignity is a big part of your program anyway.

Who says Ike is going to start except that Pre-season flyer you picked in B-ham. If Ike does not get enough reps to start, he wil not. Newman and Peoples have been practicing well and Ike better watch out. Both of those kids are hungry and ready to take the job if he is faking as you say. Pete aint that shallow. He made Hayes earn the job in 99. So why wouldn't he make Ike. We have been over the reasons Ike was in a good position to start. the status of Singleton and Jackson is why. What kids GR? Newman and Peoples were props and they can't say nothing since they are just like Ike and just getting a chance to show something. You act like their is turmoil brewing or something. I can assure you it aint that deep. If Singleton was ready to go and Jackson was eligible then what happens to all these other rbs that just showed up this year GR? That's what happens when you get hurt or sit out. Someone else comes in whether it's a transfer or not.
Ask Melvin Williams what happened when he didn't take care of his business and Wofford showed up from Califiornia. And Williams was All- SWAC at the time. I bet some WR at Marshall was shole happy to see Moss show up. I bet those Miami Qbs are worried about how they are going to back up Dorsey this year and be practice dummies runing the scout teams only to find themselves behind Brock Berlin next year. Don't think he has not been given that job, or he would have went to a 1-AA school. So stop trying to think some mess was started by Pete. Plus you keep conviently omitting his last words he said about this. Pete said we are not going to give it to Ike, he'll have to earn it. What's more fair? I say give the transfer the pressure by saying he is the man and see if he can handle it. I think it would be unfair to just give it to the props too. They had to sit out all year. So in JR's book they have to prove something too. Plus like I said why would those guys worry and ***** about Ike. He only has 1 year left. The rest of those guys have 3-4 years left depending on what they do in the classroom. Next year is going to be when one of them is pissed. When you will have Singleton, and if Jackson makes it back, Newman , Peoples, Herbert, and Tucker all fighting for time. Ike isn't even on their minds.
Not everybody thinks like you. Plus Newman and Peoples are up to the challenge of battling it out with Ike. I feel sorry for Tucker, Miller and Singleton. Because now that the others are eligible they may get pushed down the depth chart and that has nothing to do with Ike. Just remember the name Newman.

Yall yellas can handle things the way you like, but Pete does appear to be enamored with "transfers" from D1 programs.
There was an article a couple of days back concerning Erin Damond who was "let go" by LSU after getting in Saban's doghouse. He initially transferred to SU and was projected as number 1 on SU's depth chart at cornerback. It seems he changed his mind and tried to enroll at San Diego State. Apparently it didn't work out there so he has decided to transfer back to SU...Pete said he will be on the team next year.
What does this say about the recruiting process at SU? A blue chip athlete (future recruit) can always think...I'll go ahead and sign with a D1 PWC and if it doesn't work out, I'll go to SU and start.

Hold up MB, How was Damond going to start over L. Williams and T. Arnold ? Now Damond might have saw some time. But how was he going to start? And I know GSU isn't going to say much about anything. Doug has used transfers his whole time there. Did you guys have a LB from Nebraska starting? Wasn't it Guidry?
I bet if Shanklin was a little bigger and physical he would have started over Hill. But since he was a speed guy and change of pace guy, he was used like anyone would. I'll give Doug that one. But don't get on here and act like Doug don't have any transfers on the team who are going to start this year. I bet he wished Ike had transferred to GSU now that Hill flunked out or better yet, I wonder if Printers would have came to GSU instead, would Krispy Kreme eating Bruce be starting. Just asking.

You keep omitting the fact that he hasnt done anything to win the job. If he hasnt practiced with the team one day yet, what could he have possibly done to win the job? Its not fair because kids have been there, fought for Pete, played for Pete, they came to Pete first, they have practiced for Pete, and some kid makes a phone call and Pete names him the starter. If he hasnt put the helmet on one day, how has he earned a starting spot? Please answer that for me.
For me, it would have been fair for Pete to wait until 2adays were over before naming the kid the starter. Now look, the kid couldnt even make it through that. Guidry transferred in during Coach Rob's last season (his father was a former Grambling player) and during Doug's first year his azz was benched for not playing hard. Shanklin transferred in prior to spring training and went through Sping training, never started (despite being Doug's cousin), Andre Arnold led Conference USA in sacks but was accepted in part because he had a brother on the squad, most people had GSU as Printers first choice but he realized that the qb position was not gonna be "handed" to him...Doug don't play that isht!
Our current pre-season All-American Willie Gray transferred to GSU as a sophomore from LSU and played as a reserve his first season. He got his chance to start when a senior dlineman got injured against Valley. There's nothing wrong with accepting transfers... but how can you tell your kids they are top-notch football players and can compete with anyone in the country. Then the minute some washout from a PWC comes on board
you hand them the starting position.
Maybe that's why so many kids transfer to SU. They know that if they tell Pete that Dwight Folkes recruited and signed them, it's almost automatic that they will start for SU. Then again, it just proves what I've said all along...Pete can't recruit good talent coming out of high school. He rather wait til they are a bust at LSU (Cecil Cooper for example) and have them come to SU and start!

Whatever you say MB. BTW CHRIS Cooper did not sart until Jabari Greene got hurt and Shannon Smith was just coming off injury and the doghouse from the season before. Cooper has paid his dues. Then he produced. It's one thing if these guys don't play well and we start them anyway, but they have worked for it. Hayes did the same thing. He didn't get much playing time until late in the season in 99. So what the hell are yall talking about. All this because Pete said Ike is the frontrunner. Man I tell you. Again if Pete can't recruit, how did we get Devin Herbert, Vernon James this year. How did we get these NC rbs if we can't recruit. I tell you what, you send your all SU staff that Doug has assembled, you know former Pete players back to BR and see how Duh Duh Doug does without them. SMH again. That's why if you and GR coached against a team I was coaching, I would wear yall azzes out. All this emotional ties ish. I bet if Doug was losing with his recruits and he had some transfers on the bench that could play, you mofos would be screaming and hollering. I didn't expect this from MB. GR I do, but not you MB. I am hurt.

But his biggest weakness as a coach is his recruiting...You guys didn't recruit James Vernon. That kid grew up a jaguar fan...Pete even mentioned in an article that the kid wasn't on his list. But that dude can play. I admit that Doug wanted him badder than I ever wanted to piss at a beer bust!
