Lebrons.....Will they ever match Jordans in Popularity.

Hell no.... Lebrons, Iversons, Kobes.... none of them will ever come close to Jordans in popularity... all of them are ugly every year. I work part time at Footaction (for my discount :) )... we got a stockroom full of LJs, Iversons, Kobes that nobody wants lol...

Jordan day, shoes are gone in 2 hours.

The commerical hype machine is trying hard as hell. The musta showed every lebron commerical leading up his game tonight.

Jordans still selling and DA KANG aint touched a bball in almost 5 yrs.

that's the problem....NBA has been trying to find a Jordan and there will never be another one - especially with trying to force one on us...

NFL and MLB has been doing fine without 1 star to latch on

OMG here ya'll go with this Jordan mess again :vomit: Actually, there may be another basketball player who surpasses Jordan's talent, etc. but yes there will be not be another Jordan, Magic, Bird, Bill Russell, etc.

As for the shoes, (it's gotta be the shoes) they are a status symbol. That's why they are still hot. If it had anything to do with Jordan himself, then his brand would be falling off the shelves also. The Jeters, Melos, & stuff would be king too because they're JORDAN. But that ain't happenin'.

But IMO, Jordan's was always ugly too.....that's why I neva bought none. That and the price. 100 dollars for an ugly shoe??!! :nono:

stop hating Bengal.

Maybe, but not likely. And definitely not one one who has the complete package that Mr. Jordan did (the talent, the drive, the ability to make those around him better)

I tell ya, the NBA aint really been the same since 98. :(

but I digress....

mane folks need to let that cat go. Jordan ain't walking back through that door. Quit looking for the next one, and embrace the young superstars you have now, instead of trying to mold them into the next Jordan. Let them be the 1st LeBron, D-Wade, Melo, Kobe, T-Mac, and etc.

sorry, but when you have been witness to the greatest ever, a true legend, folks just don't let it go, as if it was so forgettable. sorry, yall can hate Jordan all yall want, but its NO denying his legacy.
And whether it's fair or not, the generation of players that follows him will play in his shadow.

I didn't hate him, he just wasn't my favorite player. I think folks just really overhype ALL athletes in general. They put people on a pedestal, and when they retire, they are let down because they can't find someone else to surpass their unrealistic expectations.

I totally disagree about THE FUTURE.

There will never be another Magic Johnson either. Actually Magic is the one who would be MOST hard to duplicate.

I disagree. Not knocking Magic, cause I was definitely a fan back in his day, but realize that Magic played on a team of superstars. Jordan didn't. Also, there were several years where the Lakers didn't get over the hump. Remove that shortened year when he returned from baseball, and Jordan carried the Bulls to 6 titles in a row.

I shole don't see any player out there now capable of doing that.

Magic and Kareem were the only 2 superstars on that team when they won in 81 and 83 and 85...

Come on sir.....were u aware that besides Magic and Kareem, the Lakers had 6 FIRST ROUND PICKS on their squad?

I am forgetting the other but ALL of the 5 players MH mentioned were 1st round picks. (I am racking my brain trying to figure out the 6th. Maybe someone out there can help me.) Kareem may have made the 6th. I am forgetting someone.

All Star or not, that type roster makes a difference. Heck, thats why everyone would boast of the Lakers famous bench and say they could EASILY be a starting 5 squad elswhere.

And how many of them are superstars? (Remember I said 81, 83, and 85...Worthy was not even an all-star in 83 and 85).

81
Wilkes was still at the top of his game when Worthy arrived. Wilkes averaged 21.1 points in 1981-82 (16th in the league) and played more minutes for the Lakers than everyone but Johnson and Norm Nixon

83
In 1983 McAdoo's 13.1 ppg led all nonstarters in the NBA, even though he played fewer than 21 minutes per game.

85
And James Worthy had arrived, becoming the third-leading scorer (17.6 ppg) and second-leading rebounder (6.4 rpg) on the club. As always, he shot well, finishing the regular season with a .572 field goal percentage.

btw, I didnt even mention Byron Scott

None were these "superstars" yall keep claiming. Now the CELTICS.... Yes they had em.

Biff,
The Knicks had 8 LOTTERY picks on their team last year and they sucked... every team has a bunch of 1st round picks on the team but that does not mean a thing.
