Didn't the NCAA make Greg Anthony close his T-shirt business at UNLV?
Yep, and this was after he gave back his scholarship.

Parent owned business. He would be eligibleLaMelo has his own sneaker line. He would have almost never been ruled eligible by the NCAA.
I just ask one simple question. What is the goal for any of us? To maximize our personal potential in whatever we deem important to us? Are the Balls not doing that? Is college the only way to do that? As much as we sit in stands, on sidelines, within our work environments and hate how things are done, why are we bothered by a man who has created the means to say I ain’t down for any of this I’m making my own way? More power to you Ball. Screw the system.

I'm not mad at what he is doing concerning his son's and families fiscal well being. What I am frustrated at is the example he is setting when kids do something wrong. The kid stole items in a foreign country while representing the United States. The university punished him. He feels his son should not have been punished so he removes him from the school.
Lavar never said or intimated that his son shouldn't have been punished for stealing.
His contention was that there hasn't been a timetable established when LiAngelo will be allowed to play or even practice. Lavar also said that the school has taken away LiAngelo's meal card. Those are some of the reasons Lavar said he was pulling him out of school.
Not illegal prior to enrollment. Also not illegal after enrollment if within the rules.This issue isn't who owns the business, it's the use of the player's name to endorse or promote a product.
12.5.1.3 Continuation of Modeling and Other Nonathletically Related Promotional Activities After
Enrollment. [A] If an individual accepts remuneration for or permits the use of his or her name or picture
to advertise or promote the sale or use of a commercial product or service prior to enrollment in a member
institution, continued remuneration for the use of the individual’s name or picture (under the same or similar
circumstances) after enrollment is permitted without jeopardizing his or her eligibility to participate in intercollegiate
athletics only if all of the following conditions apply: (Revised: 1/14/97, 3/10/04)
(a) The individual’s involvement in this type of activity was initiated prior to his or her enrollment in a member
institution;
(b) The individual became involved in such activities for reasons independent of athletics ability;
(c) No reference is made in these activities to the individual’s name or involvement in intercollegiate athletics;
(d) The individual does not endorse the commercial product; and
(e) The individual’s remuneration under such circumstances is at a rate commensurate with the individual’s
skills and experience as a model or performer and is not based in any way upon the individual’s athletics
ability or reputation.

Thanks for continuous contribution of nothing to this website.That's more than one question.
I just wanted you to know that your math was off.Thanks for continuous contribution of nothing to this website.
If I listed every person who shoplifted that I knew in college... Man!
I think because Ball is very public with most things that we believe he is with all things. My grandmother would defend me in public and curse me out in private. We just don’t know what lessons his kids learn. I know I wouldn’t let my child starve.Nobody’s mad at Ball trying to maximize his kid’s potential. Hell Ball isn’t the first Dad to do that although we act like he is. My problem with Ball is he feels that his son shouldn’t be held accountable for his actions. LiAngelo wasn’t going to be drafted regardless because he’s not that good. The least Lavar could do is not come across as a fool and act as if UCLA is being too hard of his son. How can a kid learn like that?
We have zero clue what his dad is doing privately.Doesn't make it right...we all have done something where we didn't get caught....the issue is he got caught. The way his dad is coming off is that it is no harm no foul.
We have zero clue what his dad is doing privately.
The public ain't feeding his kids.We have strong proof of what he is doing publicly....so his child steals in a foreign country while on a trip with a university....get suspended from the team and restrictions are placed on him....pops gets mad and said it's over kill. Pulls kid from college. SMH....
My child would not starve but in the public's eye, which his family is in because of him, he is seen as a dad who upholds his son's behavior.

From the NCAA Division 1 Manual:
The public ain't feeding his kids.
He has a shoe because his DAD owns the company.Condition (b) would seem to pretty obviously apply here.

True. I'd love for something like that to play out in court to force the NCAA into defending it. I don't think Lavar will take it to court after this though.That's a position that the NCAA, with its vested interest in upholding the sham that its amateurism, would laugh off.
