Billups clearly stepped out of bounds with the ref looking right at his foot.
The refs tried their damn best to give this game to the Nuggets.

Hell, if they can't win with damn near 40 free throw attempts plus 40 points by Carmello, that makes me wonder.

That's 11 straight playoff wins for the Lakers against Denver, the longest in NBA history.:tup:

Two reasons why Denver lost this game:

1. Too many missed free throws in this game. You have to make from the line on the road in the postseason.

2. Not being able to clear the glass. Gasol was able to get some big rebounds and keep possesions alive late in the fourth quarter.

The Nuggets should have won this game by 10 or more points tonight. They outplayed the Lakers for most of the game. But the inability to do the little things cost them in the end.

If you do what you need to do in the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd, you dont have to be clutch.... you should be sitting on the bench most of the 4th.
 
Game could have gone either way. Denver got laxed and LA made them pay. Can't really say the game was won when Ariza stole the ball. LA just made the plays when it counted. Melo went off though

Don't be surprised if Denver wins game 2 heading back to the Mile High City.:lecture:

of course I do... and you see my point also. How many minutes is LJ averaging in the 4th quarter in the playoffs? Matter of fact what game has even been close in the 4th quarter?

Of all the bad calls and missed calls I can understand the ref not calling that one. He was behind Billups so he couldn't see where his toes were, especially with Ariza playing over the top on him.

I swear I hate to complain about refs being one-sided but damn that was unbelievable. They call touch fouls one way, blocking fouls one way. I mean damn will the Lakers get a break at all? This is the same thing TopDog was talking about in the Rockets series. These refs don't seem to be too fond of the Lakers.

Dude, for you to even hint that Lebron is more clutch than Kobe is laughable.
 
I'm watching the press conference and poor George Karl looks like he wants to cry.

I mean, Denver played an almost perfect game. This one was a hard loss to take.

Can't complain about the refs in this case. The Nuggets beat themselves by missing too many FTs. Once you do that, you can't leave a great team like the Lakers an opening to take advantage and hang around. Los Angeles did that and deserved to win Game 1.

You can't complain about the refs because there are plays in between the "controversial" calls that both teams have to take advantage of. It was the Lakers that rebounded, took advantage of turnovers and bad possessions by Denver. In every game there are calls that could go either way.

I think the refs did a pretty good job tonight as they have throughout the playoffs. I am tired of fans, coaches and players complaining about the refs.

Nobody ever committs a foul or travels or does anything wrong on the court these days. I am sick of it. You have to make plays to win in the postseason.

Do refs make mistakes? Sure, but so do players and coaches as well.
 
Kobe Bryant really was clutch in this game. He scored 17 of the team's 31 points and was 9 for 9 at the free throw line in the fourth quarter. He scored 11 of the team's last 13 points, hit six straight free throws in the finals 30 seconds and got the last critical rebound of the game.

If Pau Gasoft and Lasoft Odom had an inch of toughness in them this team would be unbeatable. But it is what it is and he is going to have to carry the Lakers in this one.

Lebron's history of missing clutch free throws and clutch shots at the buzzer is public knowledge. Now back to Mr. Clutch himself.....Kobe Bryant and the LA Lakers.

OMG!!!! My grandmother even complain about the officiating in the playoffs this season and she's dead.

yeah but the official up the line was looking right at billups toe on the line. he was near half court but didn't have the guts to make that call. can't really blame him but he missed an obvious call.

I don't know why ariza was playing him so close anyway. just give him the shot and don't play billups so close. billups is crafty enough to make you foul him and still make the 3 pointer
 
And nobody mentioned the fact that Kobe guarded Denver's best three shooters, Carmello, Billups and JR. He still had time to score 40 on the other end.:nod:

I have been watching, covering (pro and college) and playing sports for about 15 years, and I never felt that refs/umps decided the outcome of the majority of games I've witness.

You can say what about the ref not calling the intentional foul in the Dallas-Denver game? Well, Melo still had to make the three. Now if Melo missed the shot, the Denver fans would have been upset.

What about Rajon Rondo punching Brad Miller and not being called a flagrant foul? Well, Brad Miller has to make the FTs.

What about the ref in the Miami-Ohio State BCS title game who called pass interference in the endzone? The Hurricanes still had a shot to win in OT.

What about the ref in the Denver-San Diego game not calling a fumble by Jay Cutler? Well, the Chargers had a shot to stop the Broncos on fourth down and on the 2-point conversion attempt late in the game.

There are a million reasons why teams win and lose games that don't even have anything to do with the refs when you think about it.

If only the ref would had make this call or not made that call....no what if you did not turn the ball over 15 times, miss nine free-throws, throw three interceptions, walk 8 batters, commit 4 errors and 7 holding penalties?
