He also won the city championship those two years in his stint while at Lanier and took the team to the state play-offs.

That was back when they were graduating around 600+700 seniors a year along with Lee High.
Back in those days Univ. of Arkansas got several of JD's RB's.

I understand that (for LC at least) this is a "volunteer " job. Which means to me that he will not be getting paid a salary for it. Makes sense to me. Both need to make themselves marketable again. I don't think any college will be hiring either of them in the near future and the only way that they can keep themselves in the game is to do this.

LC took Lanier to two city championships with no offense at all, and he did it in the two years at a school with a very low athletic morale and poor assistant coaching. With JC handling the offense and with some of the other coaches he will be bringing in (I understand that there are a lot of former ASU players in the high school coaching ranks contacting him) I give it three years before JD will be challenging Pratville and Carver for the district championship.

Hopefully he will have taken Barlow's job before 3 years.
 
Why are we always questioning the Cole brothers for our HBCU's having lack of control? Maybe if we got our stuff together and stop the bad buddy buddy hires, this stuff wouldn't happen. The truth is they only expose the weakness of the buddy buddy system HBCU's have.

Sort of off topic but, if JD is now all black, any chance of them renaming the school? An all black H.S. in Alabama in 2011 named Jefferson Davis, or Robert E. Lee..LOL

Back to the topic...I guess the Cole brothers really love Montgomery...

LC kept his home and family in Montgomery. I guess they now consider Montgomery home.

don't know about Montgomery but Huntsville City Schools have a bylaw that you cant change the name of a school that is named after a person.... Lee High in Huntsville is an all Black school also.

L.C. Cole, the former Alabama State head football coach, said he has accepted the head coaching position at Jeff Davis High School.

Montgomery Public Schools senior communication officer Tom Salter, however, said in an email that Cole is not an employee of the Montgomery Public Schools.

Salter said in order for a person to be hired, the superintendent must to make a recommendation to the board of education during a board meeting. The majority of the board must vote on a personnel report to affirm the superintendent's recommendation.

When asked what the next step would be, Salter said Thursday that the next board meeting is scheduled for June 28.
