sorry, but I don't see how/why it's such a big deal.

because the FACT is that yall did lose to them. And they are known as the Okra.

This reminds me of players/teams who have lost a game at home and get mad when the winning team celebrates on their field, logo, etc.

I always say the way to stop them from doing that is to WIN the game.......

oh well, carry on

On the smack board. People get banned for smacking on the sports board. But its ok to smack on the frontpage.

Believe it or not...now that the format has changed it actually is OK to smack on the front page by adding your comments. I welcome it.

Welcome to the blogosphere.

THE SIOUX clearly tells us that that's their mascot
To say SIOUX in this context implies it's the school's name.'

I'm not sure why he used quotes. The usage was probably to just bring more attention to the smack in the sentence. lol. I wish Kenn would just atleast admit he was smackin JSU and stop with all this b.s.
I look at the quotes on 'Okra' as slang or unoffical. So, if Kenn had used THE Delta State University first and then mentioned 'Okra', it would be cool??

A fighting vegetable at that.:emlaugh: How does a Tiger get whipped by a Okra is beyond me.

:lmao::lmao::lmao::lmao::lmao::lmao::lmao::lmao::lmao::lmao::lmao: CUTTING UP ON A FRIDAY ABOUT SOMETHING GREEN AND MUSHY THAT STOPPED BY MISSISSIPPI VETERAN MEMORIAL!!!:lmao::lmao:

MH... this is the catch... The smack was run in the lead to a story about a game JSU won.

It's cool. We got beat by "Okra"...when we whip Grambling's arse, you can call them Tigers, G-Men, Eddie's Boys, whatever you like. Go Tigers!!!

Mr. Rashad does have the name "Okra" in quotes, as you would an unofficial nickname.....

I wonder do the good folk at App. State (who are the Mountainneers) ever get in a tizzy when they're sometimes called "Mountain climbers"?

If you have to reach this hard for analogy, its better to not use one. This isn't about us losing to Delta State. That's over and most of our fans have moved on.

I can understand NT's position... to him, it seems that JSU is being ridiculed in an area that is not the "usual" place for smack. I would feel the same way if it was Grambling in the place of JSU...really I would.

However, I understand Kenn's position. In essence, this was a commentary in which the writer (regardless of the medium) has the "mic" and can comment as he so chooses within the guidelines of moral and responsible journalism. I don't Kenn was being malicious...which is the type of commentary that all should fine offensive.

Just as I said that I understand NT's position, I can not honestly say that if I was writing the same commentary that I would not have made use of the "Okra" mania that has taken over any and all conversations about JSU. As Chris Rock would say..."Not saying it's right, but I understand!"

Can I call them the "C" word?

If you do then we will really now who is the "C" word won't we? Going that route is a no-win situation homeboy. Would be like me calling you the "N" word...No way I would look good doing that.

But hey if that makes it even in your eyes...you still my homes! Next time I'm up that way, we can run up to Ferriday and get a 2piece with a side of okra and laff about it.

100% can feel that. but don't play it like it's not smack and put the good spin on it like mr. rashad. Just have some ***** and say, yea it was smack or whatever. I'm not gonna donate to this site either way, so you don't have to play spin dr. with me. lol.

Kenn, please put "Fighting" in front of okra........Apparently it will give a few JSU fans some sort of consolation in that azz whipping they took.

Hey, this is all smack and entertainment, right?

99,
The analogy works because if yall had not lost to them, then this wouldn't even be a discussion. Delta State and their infamous mascot (official or unofficial) would've been forgotten by now if yall had won. But they beat you. And Okra lives on. And it will live on in tspn lore for years. We ALL know it.

That's over and most of our fans have moved on.
This topic says otherwise.
