Boy you were some where rolling around in your crib when this took place... You don't know wth we were trying to do.. In fact we weren't trying to do isht but "be at the right place at the right time with the right equipment ready to pounce on that arse!!!" We just got a very good treat that day with a very un organized boom that year... Folks were quitting the week of that game because they heard of the punishments we were putting on everyone else... This was before your time Danny, don't try to get in this...

Blade come get your boy.... smh

J....i know that is before my time....

but when I marched in the Boom....

for the last 3 meetings, Jukes have called me hours before the game saying they was already in the Jackson City Limits....already headed to the stadium and tryna beat us in the stadium....

all of this hours before the Boom's report time to the band hall......so that "we were in the right place blah blah blah" is just a coverup these days

now you go head and try to put a spin on this....

... All this hip hop isht is hard to arrange and have empty parts in these songs. Only a few really have any musical substance.
...
I can agree with what's in red.

Can only agree with the latter 2/3. Hip hop is easily arranged because it is designed to be empty and little of it has any musical substance.

Arranging it is easy. Playing it is boring. It goes nowhere; so why bother?

For all you know Danny could be lying.... Regardless what they ( How came YEARS after 97)MAY have told him hold nothing on 97 incident.

And further more Doc controlled when we get to games.. He is that type of person.. He believes showing up ON time is LATE!

When I played in his stage band we showed up to events atleast an hour before... Had nothing to do with.."Let's see if we can get in the stadium for a JStank".. Please get real...

Now carry on...

 "It's Like That", It Takes Two", I Go To Work", "The Show" and "Da Butt" were arranged and played by the "Boom" during the Dowell Taylor era and those rap songs sounded dayum good!

What that has to do with what happened in 97? What happened in 97 SPARKED folks to want to see it done again, I'll admit that... But what happened in 97 was a pure case of JSU slipping, bottom line..

We would get to the stadium before JSU (just like we get to the stadium before every band) but we'd be on the bus chilling and then all of a sudden you'll see another bus pulling up with Jstank practically running into the stadium.

BASICALLY!! It's just sick to sit here and read some crap like SU actually be racing up the interstate to beat JSU band in the Stadium....:retard: Get the fug out of here...It ain't that dayum serious...

It was the same in 97.. We got there chilled on the bus for a lil while, some of the country folk in our band got out and played dominoes with the ever so country Jackson locals... Doc said "Let's go", we went.... He wasn't screaming.. "This is the chance, we will get in there before JSU and blow on them when they come through".....JSU just wasn't on their P's and Q's.. just that simple...

And you ain't lying PJ, because I done witnessed them seeing SU buses and Racing to hurry up and get in the stadium.... While SU bandmembers were sitting back laughing at them...smh... It's sad when a band come from Baton Rouge is more prepared than a band that only has to travel a few miles to the stadium... That a reflection on the director though...

:shame:

ELEVEN years ago and they are still celebrating a BLOW on JSU(once in a lifetime)!!

DAYUM :clap:CONGRATS!!! Now can we let it GO, ITS 2009........

:retard:
LOL @ TP...........you wouldn't know what a good sounding ballad is if it hit you in the face.

SU still sounds good for the most part. Consistently better than rest of the conference for sure. All this hip hop isht is hard to arrange and have empty parts in these songs. Only a few really have any musical substance.

As far as marching..........aint nobody marching these days, band directors are lazy..... it has become all about the stands for some reason.....but again the recent versions of SU band do it better and more consistent than the rest of yall. That's for damn sure. Are they the same from the 70s, 80s and some of the 90s......no......but they sure aint as far removed from those bands as the rest of the SWAC bands are from their glory days.... the ones who even had glory days. LOL. Only PV and UAPB probably can claim they have gotten better over time.

Carry on.

You act like ya'll the only ones who know anything about music. Furthermore, I proably have a broader feel for music than most who call themselves musicians. ...and you don't know what my history is with an instrument. :D... and I ain't tellin...lol

Now, again, SU can't play a ballad but that is just my personal opinion. I think I have the right to that. Hell, JSU can't play one sometimes. Some of you try to say that we have changed to be like SU but after those folks left JSU to go to NSU, we actually went back to sounding a lot more like we did during the 80s (except for the first year they left). Unlike most, I think they were fuggin up the program.

Dude please shut-up.. Nothing in that post was true or made a lick of sense...

It really was. :smh:

SUcks still don't know the difference between opinions and facts. Your post was CLEARLY an opinion.

Clearly a DUMB one!...

They have people that never been to Africa, but make opinions about Africa saying "Africa is nothing but a jungle with Lions and stuff and tribes running wild throwing arrows at each other".. That would make that person pretty dumb, huh?

Well TP opinion on marching bands is a bit worse than that...
Now Carry on, you ought to be ashamed of yourself defending such stupidity..
