Well I know one thing for sure, he is guaranteed to be 100% better than the basketball coach we got in Normal. I bet you my 98 year old Aunt and her nursing home crew could beat us and this is before they eat breakfast. At least JSU hired a winner. We hired buddy buddy from a losing 10 year squad.
Ironically the best players to ever hoop at Bama and go on to the NBA are Mississippians: Mo Williams, James "Hollywood" Robinson, Derrick McKey and Antonio McDyess.
I agree... btw I dont have anything about hiring a high school basketball coach. Im just looking from a standpoint of outcoaching or out talenting in the high school ranks.
Mississippi High school basketball is overated.... winning a championship there doesnt show me anything.
Bruh stop, Chris Jackson (Mahmoud Abdul-Rauf), Monta Ellis, Al Jefferson, Clarence Weatherspoon, Othella Harrington, Mo Williams, Antonio McDyess, Jonathan Bender, Justin Reed, Erick Dampier, and many others disagree with you. Mississippi kids can ball.
Right now Coach K and Roy Williams are beating down the door of Devin Booker to get him to play at their schools and in 2 years Malik Newman is gonna be a Top 10 if now best player in the nation.
LOL. Yep. Bama stayed in MS recruiting. Ms has put out tremendous basketball talent. Now some kids have went the wrong schools but we got a rich history of basketball talent.
I'm not sure if DAHILL's talking about the players, the teams or what. He really didn't specify. He can make a valid point for the teams that come out of the State. But in terms of players, themselves, MS is doing well considering its population.
I'm not so sure of that either. I know JPS schools used to run the table at those "Battle of the Borders" and "Rumble in the South" tourneys. Callaway even won a few out of state games this year in that Palms Classic.
The SWAC must be the 1 out of 10 then.In football, the team with the talent wins 9 times out of 10.
The SWAC must be the 1 out of 10 then.
but I digress,
congrats on the hire (I guess) I'll miss Great Grandpa Anderson
:retard:Yeah, you sked.

Snickering!
I don't even know why SUJagtil brough up being an asst at Ole they have always been thrash until this one lucky year and I don't believe your new coach was on the staff of this years team so it is irrelevant to the point!
Im stating a state championship in Mississippi is what is overated... give me a job coaching in Jackson at one of the high schools and Im going to look good period.... the talent in Jackson far outweighs the talent in the rest of the state. If he would have won these championships in any other city in Mississippi I would be impressed. Basketball is ran by the inner city (in most cases) Jackson is the only "inner city" in Mississippi. That would be like taking out Huntsville, Montgomery, Mobile and Tuscaloosa and leaving Birmingham as the only "inner city"...of course a Birmingham team is going to win state every year. When was the last time a team from Jackson didnt win a state championship?

Jackson St. made a great hire. Alcorn went with 3 different type coaches when David Whitney retired. 1st was Sam West an assistant under David whitney and his highest finish was 10-8 in the swac with a 4th place finish. When David Whitney talent left. He went to the bottom of the SWAC. He is now the AD of McComb Public Schools. Then we went with Larry Smith, an Alcorn star, who always wanted to coach at Alcorn. He had assistant coach experience in the NBA and WNBA. He was able to get some decent talent but couldn't coach them up and didn't win not one OOC DI game while he was here. Attendence got so bad that games started having free admission. Alcorn then wanted another coach but didn't want to fire him so now he is the Marketing Director for Athletics. Then we went with Luther Riley who didn't have any college coaching experience expect being a GA under David Whitney. He cut everybody off the team except 4. He improved the team from 10th place to 7th last year and from 7th place to 5th place this year. I believe that with him as yall coach. Alcorn, Jackson St., Southern, and Texas Southern will always be in the top 4 spots with signature wins. The team thats in the sweet 16 now beat Alcorn by 2 points.
I concur
