Very nice pics!!!! One question though... Why did Jackson's DM's have gold and white uniforms??? Did the school colors change over time?

I started out under Haughton but finished my last year with Taylor!

Nice pics! Gotta show these to my brother who was in the band 77-80!

Awww mannn that made my day!!! That was just beautiful seeing all of that history!! I've heard stories about some of those performances in the Superdome and ATL-FulCo Stadium. I remember those overlays (Remember those SLT??) and it was cool to see the JSC and early Memorial.

I really loved seeing the early KKPsi and the few people I knew!

Thanks again!!

Yep. I remember those overlays! They were reversible. On one side was the 'J' and the other side had 'Jackson State' on it. And the jackets underneath the overlay were used during concert season to form a suit. Those fuzzy baby blue hats with the plumes and the shoulders bands with Sonic Boom of the South written on them!

*sigh* :( I miss those times!

Now that was the BOOM, that I grew up in Jackson watching. Mr. Haughton was the man. I can remember when he sung Larry Graham's One in a Million in front of the band.

The Boom was no joke back then.

I KEEP hearing about how this man sings "One in a Million"!!!!!

It was awesome! Made tears come to your eyes! :bawling:

And his background singers included Baby Bull, Antwine, Michael Bethea, and Aaron Germany. They sounded sooooo good!

SLT, this has to take you (us) back, soror! I almost teared up looking at those picutures. I recognize lots of people in those pictures. What a throwback - thanks! Goree, Duplessis and Haughton - the awesome threesome.

I remember those guys doing background.
Sidenote...... Michael Bethea and Morris " St. Aug" Armstrong were the best duo of DMs I have seen at JSU. Before they went to 3 and whatever they are now.

They went to 3 drum majors my senior year. James Berry, Kevin Culver & Derrick Donnell.

What do they have now......16 drum majors?

Tight pics...and thanks for sharing.

But one question? From looking at JSU Drum Major(s) in those pictures, it appears that they had a different flavor; they look kinda like a SU drum major. Wsup with that? And when did their style change?
