Re: JSU finds their replacement for Trey Johnson

Man thats big time Coach Anderson did say something about a 6-6 kind on Saturday at the baseball game. I know if Horton would have waited we may have gotten him too. 32 scholarships thats big time

Re: JSU finds their replacement for Trey Johnson

This kid is a better prospect than R.L. Horton.

Re: JSU finds their replacement for Trey Johnson

I won't call him a replacement for Trey but he should do well at JSU. He seems to have gone under a lot of people's radar. I look foward to JSU playing more team ball and getting 2-3 good shooters and A REBOUNDER!!

Re: JSU finds their replacement for Trey Johnson

Big Pick up. Highest Rated player to sign with an HBCU this season.

Re: JSU finds their replacement for Trey Johnson

This is great for us and the SWAC as a whole. If we can keep these type of players in the SWAC we will be doing good.

Re: JSU finds their replacement for Trey Johnson

There was nothing in the article that indicated he has eligibility problems.
The article says he said he was headed to prep school. That means he doesn't have the grades. Kids go to prep schools to get eligible before entering college.

The Rivals article is dated April 12th whereas the one Devil's Gun posted from the Starkville paper is dated today. Which should we trust, I say the most current one!!

It's not about trust. The most recent article doesn't addresss his eligibility, just his signing. I hope he comes to JSU. But that doesn't mean he'll be eligible. If he was considering prep school, then he got grade issues. Maybe he worked 'em out.

I think he may have been headed to prep school b/c the school he had his heart set on for sometime fired his coach and threw all his plans out of whack. better t ocommit to 1 year at prep school instead of 4 at a college that your not totally comfortable at. good player, very good player....but the bigger news for jsu is.....

I believe his cousin is April Sykes, one of the top girls players in the country. this opens the door for them to really get after her to come to jsu. they also have another cousin, a girl, last name jackson who originally signed w/ bama state but didn't qualify and went to juco that was on mississippi states team this past year. this is a hoops family.

Re: JSU finds their replacement for Trey Johnson

I wasn't saying he didn't sign with us. I was just saying, if he did sign with us, we probably will not see him in uniform for 1 year because of grades. Hopefully, Anderson talked him into sitting out a year and focusing on academics at JSU. He will be an asset to the program. Or maybe he is qualified now?

Re: JSU finds their replacement for Trey Johnson

believe..Robber is dead-on...I threw his name out to someone who knew about him and they said prep school before I could even finish the sentence

As long as we get him, he can sit out two years for all we care. Anderson already has a pretty young team waiting to light up the SWAC next year. :uzi:

That is an understatement:jump:

However, I like the team SU is building as well as the team that Texas Southern and Pine Bluff returns. :read:

I didn't pay attention to who PB is returning, but I know they gave JSU all kinds of hell on the court last season.

Re: JSU finds their replacement for Trey Johnson

People........................He gonna be eligible.

He WAS going to ARKANSAS until they had that coaching change.
When they fired the old coach and hired the new guy, he dropped ARKANSAS and came to JSU.

JSU was his choice after ARKANSAS.
The CL has a write up on him today in the sport short's section of the box score section.

JSU signs 6'6" point Guard
The Jackson State men's basketball team signed 6-foot-6 guard and second-team All-State selection Jenirro Bush on Tuesday, the first announced signing for the basketball program during the offseason.

Bush, who led East Oktibbeha to a 33-5 record and the 1A state championship, averaged 24.4 points and 9.2 rebounds, 7 assists and 3 steals per game his senior year. The Clarion-Ledger Dandy Dozen selection scored a season high of 42 against Choctaw Central.

"He's a big-time point guard and we're thrilled to add him to the team," JSU coach Tevester Anderson said. "He's got a big body and knows how to get to the rim. Plus, he's got great court vision."

Bush had originally committed to Arkansas, but backed off after coach Stan Heath was fired and former South Alabama coach John Pelphrey took his place.

"After coach Heath left Arkansas, I just kind of lost interest in going up there," Bush said. "Jackson State was a school I had always thought about going to and I really didn't look anywhere else
."

Also.....................The women signed a girl out of GEORGIA.
A 5'6" point guard................Can't think of her last name right now but her first name is Ebony I believe.
