The ghost of 2002, when injuries forced Southern University to have a revolving door of quarterbacks, is never that far away.
That was offensive coordinator David Oliver’s first season at Southern and left an indelible memory.
The Jaguars have benefitted from having one starting quarterback in each of the last three seasons: Quincy Richard with the top single season in school history in 2003 (3,340 yards), Thomas Ricks with the second best in 2004 (2,786) and J.C. Lewis with the third best last season (2,496 in nine games, three less than Ricks and four less than Richard).
However, even with a more-seasoned Lewis back for his junior season, the No. 2 guy has to be ready. Just in case.
That’s where sophomore C.J. Byrd comes into the picture.

The problem with people like you is that you measure a player by only one thing. "PHYSICAL SKILLS"
You have to have more then that to play on the the next level and it's obvious Bruce didn't.
But this guy
"# 7 Tarvaris Jackson" sure did and those of us that saw him play saw the difference between him and Bruce.

I hope Bruce trims down and receives a second chance.
Tarvaris played within the ASU system which was balanced and somewhat conservative unless they were trailing.

One day we will let this subject die a natural death. Bruce will be remembered in the SWAC for the records, his large size, and the many reasons why he did not make it to the NFL. I heard he tried out for the CFL and when I just checked a few minutes ago he is not on any roster. Tarvaris will be known for the impact he made on the ASU program, his prototype pro size, strong arm, and that he was drafted by the Vikings. No matter what anybody says, Tarvaris, not Bruce, looked damn good the other night on TV. He is actually in the run to be the #2 QB for the Vikings.
GSU fans ..... Let it go... It's over.. Let's celebrate all of the SWAC players in the NFL because the more that get drafted means the talent in the league is getting better.

The Southern University football team will conduct its first major scrimmage this morning at A.W. Mumford Stadium.
The Jaguars expect to go more than 100 plays after an extensive period working on all facets of special teams — punts, kickoffs, field goals and PATs.
“We’ll do a situational scrimmage, use the clock to get acclimated to that,” Southern coach Pete Richardson said. “We’ll start off at the 20 (yard line) and get so many plays.”
The scrimmage, which is two weeks before the Sept. 2 season opener against Bethune-Cookman College in Jacksonville, Fla., will be closed.
Richardson said Southern will have one more major scrimmage, either Wednesday or Thursday, before moving the focus fully to a game plan for B-CC.

It's on then... We've expanded to the point of looking at adding an additional spot. Got corporate sponsorship for our non-profit arm to do some of our mandated programs. But let me get off Blue's thread cuz we done hijacked this bad boy.
