?Up front, we?ve got some guys who enjoy playing,? first-year Jackson State coach Rick Comegy said. ?We will hit. That?s one good thing I like about our defense: Guys are aggressive going to the football and enjoy playing defense.?
Safety Carlton Brown is fourth nationally in interceptions after having none last season. And defensive end John Archie is tied for fourth nationally in tackles for loss (and also ranks third in the SWAC in sacks, with three).
Is bluedog not posting anymore articles?

Who has JSU beaten?
Junior quarterback J.C. Lewis has missed the last two games with some kind of unknown medical disorder, leaving lickety-split quick sophomore C.J. Byrd as the starter and redshirt freshman Bryant Lee.

This space is traditionally used for breaking down Saturday’s Southern football game.
Well, this won’t take long.
Arkansas-Pine Bluff is very good, the worthy champion of the Western Division. Southern is putrid.
From Southern, Saturday was the kind of effort, self-destruction and non-competitiveness that’s hard to explain, hard to justify.
Granted Southern was up against the odds in the divisional race, but the Jaguars had a chance to stay alive in the division and had the pride factor of not letting UAPB clinch on their turf, and nevertheless played their worst game in years.
Southern unraveled in a span of about 18 minutes. The offense looked punchless for most of the game. Special teams basically gave up 14 points. And the defense may have been the one good piece, until would-be tacklers slid off UAPB running back Martell Mallett as if he were dipped in goo, in the second half.
