Your negtive comments about the Jaguar Nation were uncalled for. If you want to congratulate JSU, then do so! But leave the Jaguar Nation alone! If you must find a school to pick on, I would suggest TSU! They seem like a good candidate, being that they are located in a metro area with more than 7 million, but can't attract an average of 10,000 for football games. But then again, why would 10,000 want to come and watch a football team that went 0 & 11 for the season. Yeah, TSU would have been a much better school to pick on! By the way, congratulations to JSU!
Look, no one is going to beat out Jackson State any time soon! In a city of 170,000 residents (84% Black), JSU is literally the only game in town. Their mayor, with the African-sounding name, said as much in a recent interview. Aside from serving as the capital of the state, there is nothing significant happening in Jackson other than Jackson State football. Add to that the fact that JSU admits to its games all school-aged kids for free in that 60,000-seat stadium, and you have a recipe for an attendance-leading football program on a national scale. I am not complaining, though! I think it is genius of them to admit school-aged kids for free. With a big stadium that largely sits half empty, why not allow these free attendees? Without free admission, these kids would be sitting at home at game time, and the stadium seats they occupy would be sitting there empty. Its a win-win situation for all concerned. The kids get in for free and Jackson State sees its numbers rise both in attendance and in concession food sales. Now next year JSU's numbers will go down! Gone from its upcoming schedule are Southern, Grambling and Alcorn State, three of their most well-attended games, and because they do enjoy a nice road following, SU, GSU, and AlSU should see their numbes rise.
