J-State finds itself in hole

majik & Bengal E,

You guys are ignoring the economics of the decision to require only seven games. One of the reason the SWAC split into divisions, and required only seven games in the first place, was to cut down on travel costs for member schools.

For instance, next year Bama State won't have to travel to the state of Texas at all. Nor will we have to travel to Arkansas. That's a lot of money saved.

If we went to an eight game conference schedule, we would not have the luxury of scheduling as many non-conference games that are close to us in proximity. For instance if we had to play eight conference games, Bama State probably could not play Clark A.U., which is only two hours away and A&M probably would have to drop Mo Brown, which is about two and a half hours away from them.

Like so many other things, economics plays a big part here.

It's all kinda confusing and twisted up. Hell, i think i like the old school way better. All this round about shat. lol. Erbody just play erbody and see what happens. you know? lol.

I think they had a contractual obligation (economics) to play Bama St. That's why they had initially scheduled Bendict for HC. (Your small time sell out theory).

I agree we will always play SU & Gram too big of a rivalry, period.

Look for GSU to begin playing only the 3 required Eastern Division foes. In the year that JSU is not the required foe, we will play 4. JSU will always be on our schedule if any ways possible. It is our biggest home draw, other than homecoming (and that's close).

I think GSU will attempt to schedule other La schools on a home and home basis to cut down on travel expenses. I also think Doug wants to play at least once a year in Atlanta to recruit the
Georgia athlete. In addition, we are trying to get games against regional D1 mid majors like University of Arkansas, TCU, Houston, SMU, and Texas Tech. Those games could be played in Shreveport's 40k stadium...I'm sure the S'port Chamber of Commerce would be willing to offer assistance in getting that done.
